Now the Vatican wants to ban Halloween. Boo! to them

The Vatican is "warning parents not to let their kids dress up as ghosts and goblins this weekend for Halloween, calling it a pagan celebration of "terror, fear and death," Britain's Daily Telegraph reports.

The newspaper says that the Church has become alarmed in recent years  as the traditional U.S.celebration spreads to other countries,  particularly Britain and Italy.

In fact Halloween started with the Celts if anyone took the time to tell the Vatican and we imported it to America.

So it is coming back to haunt us.

The paper says the Vatican issued its warning through its official newspaper, L'Osservatore Romano, in an article headlined "Halloween's Dangerous Messages."

It quotes a liturgical expert, Joan Maria Canals as saying, "Halloween has an undercurrent of occultism and is absolutely anti-Christian."

Parents should "be aware of this and try to direct the meaning of the feast towards wholesomeness and beauty rather than terror, fear and death," says Father Canals, a member of a Spanish commission on church rites, the Telegraph reports.

Give me a break.

I suggest Father Canals is all wet.

What on earth is wrong with some harmless fun dressing up for the night?

The Vatican needs to discover its sense of humor about things that go bump in the night.

I don't think it is as harmful as priests and children going bump in the night.

You have nbo idea who jesus was, your only insight is a book using letters based on men who claim to have known him, hundreds of years after his death. The vatican's stance is every bit as idiotic and fictional as yours.

Halloween is trully a druid celebration of the dead and the spirits. I would say i agree with the vatican stance but not their religion which is trully centred around idolatory and forms of witchcraft i would say. which the bible condemns if you are a christian. Portia says the young people know the truth but what constitutes the truth to you. Jesus is the way the truth and the life. No one is in the truth without Jesus..

LOL- The Vatican boys are dressed as women all the time and some with fish hats and silly paraphanalia- to impress. Yes, Halloween is our New year and we have every right to celebrate it as we please. The Vatican came to Eire many moons ago and destroyed our "religion" of LOVE. Now the Vatican knows its days are over as the Goddess of love returns. Halloween has nothing to do with paganism either. Halloween is the time when Spirit and Earth worlds are close- that is all. Vatican has survived for thousands of years by preaching fear of the spirit world. why?- to keep sheeple under control. The young people know the truth and the older ones are waking up too.
