Weiner is at 25 per cent with Irish American Quinn at 20 per cent, African American candidate Bill Thompson is at 13 per cent, Bill De Blasio at 10 per cent and John Liu at 8 per cent.
Quinn’s rapid fall from grace is shocking given that she easily led the field for months. However, she has become the key target of the other candidates and has also shipped criticism among Upper East Side voters for her support of a garbage facility in the area.
Weiner, despite his sexting scandal is also sitting on a huge campaign chest of $4 million and is sure to be spending heavily leading into the Democratic primary.
“The race has been scrambled by Weiner’s candidacy,” Marist pollster Lee Miringoff told the Journal.
“Weiner’s candidacy has gotten more acceptable to voters since he announced, (and) Quinn’s having a difficult time reversing what has been a slow but steady decline in her numbers,” he continued.
