Case of Irish DJ’s Aer Lingus sex act sent to the DPP

Police have sent a file to the Irish Director of Public Prosecutions following an investigation into allegations that the popular Irish radio DJ Neil Prendeville publicly exposed himself on board an Aer Lingus flight last October.

Now the DPP will have to decide whether or not the radio presenter will faces criminal charges.

Last October, Prendeville, who was a passenger on the flight, was observed masturbating on the Are Lingus as the aircraft taxied prior to takeoff.

Aer Lingus cabin crew and passengers who were sitting next to Prendeville on the flight from London Heathrow to Cork were questioned by Irish police in November.

When the incident was made public Prendeville, 49, issued a public apology on Cork’s 96FM, blaming his actions on the combination of painkillers and alcohol he had consumed. Prendeville also claimed he could not remember what happened during the flight.

Despite his inability to remember his actions, Prendville said he would not contest any charges that may arise from them.

But a complication may arise going forward since the incident occurred before the flight took off from Heathrow, leading to speculation that there may be a potential issue with jurisdiction that could prevent the DPP from prosecuting. British police are not investigating the matter, and are unlikely to.
