A British man has been taken in for questioning following the shooting of an Irish man outside a bar in Benalmedena, Spain.


The Irishman, John O’Neil, from Coolock, Dublin has shot outside Coco’s bar in the tourist resort of Benalmaden in the early hours of Wednesday morning.


Spanish police are now questioning a British man after witnesses said that a row had broken out in front of the bar before the shooting. Mr O’Neill was then shot in the stomach.


A journalist with, the Spanish newspaper, La Opinion, Nicole Cacho said that local people raised the alarm.


The father-of-two was holidaying with his girlfriend when the incident took place. It is not suspected to be gang related.
