Irish America magazine is proud to announce Brian Ruane as their 2011 Wall Street 50 Keynote speaker.

Ruane, who was appointed CEO of BNY Mellon Alternative and Broker-Dealer Services in May 2011, has for years demonstrated his enormous dedication to growing BNY Mellon’s presence on the global stage.

He has also displayed great pride in his Irish heritage and shown extraordinary support for worthy Irish causes.

For 14 years, Irish America magazine’s Wall Street 50 has presented the best and brightest of Irish America’s leaders in finance. Each year the Wall Street 50 has heard from groundbreaking keynote speakers like Bob McCann, CEO of UBS Wealth Management and Brian Moynihan, CEO of Bank of America. They have tackled the hard topics of recession and struggle, they have spoken to the resilient hope of Irish Americans and the enduring importance of their heritage.

BNY Mellon Alternative Investment Services is reshaping the face of hedge fund client support, and, in this past year, the company has built-up its Dublin-based operation. At the forefront of BNY Mellon AIS’s efforts and success,  Ruane and his team have worked to offer 24/7 worldwide support, increased efficiency and high value risk reporting to alternative fund managers.  Ruane is a member of the operating committee of BNY Mellon and the board of directors and credit committee of Pershing LLC.

BNY Mellon’s efforts in Ireland have grown to employ more than 1,800 and for fifteen years its Dublin-based operation has been an instrumental tool in BNY Mellon’s expanding global presence. Roughly 550 of BNY Alternative Investment Services’ 1,600 global staff work in Ireland, involved in servicing hedge fund and private equity relationships throughout Europe and Asia.

 Ruane graduated from Coláiste Éanna in Dublin in 1982 and from The Chartered Association of Certified Accountants in the U.K. and Ireland in 1989. In 1995, he earned his MBA in international banking from The Zarb School of Business, New York.

He sits on the advisory boards of the University College Dublin Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business and the Zarb School of Business, New York. Ruane’s father comes from Crossmolina, Co. Mayo and his mother is from Drumhaldry, Co. Longford. He and wife Anna, who is from Dublin, live in New York with their four children.
