The body of Irish American student Shane Montgomery has been found in the Schuylkill River less than half a mile from where he disappeared on Thanksgiving morning.

The 21-year-old from West Chester college had been drinking at Kildare’s Irish Bar in downtown Philadelphia when he left at 2 am.

Soon after he left the pub, he seemingly disappeared. A closed circuit camera in a nearby store showed him walking towards the river.

Family, FBI, police and friends searched for weeks and eventually his keys were found in the water.

On Saturday his body was finally located by divers who have searched non stop. "Today we have done what we promised. We found and brought Shane home," Karen Montgomery, Shane's mother, said in a statement posted online.

“We want to thank everyone for their support, prayers, and love and ask that they continue to pray for our family at this trying time. At this time we ask that you please respect our privacy. We need time to mourn together as a family.”
