The body of a missing Irish man has been found in Whistler, Canada.

David Christian had been reported missing by friends on Monday evening after failing to turn up for work. He was last seen at a local bar on St. Patrick's day. His phone was last used at about 2:30 am, according to TheJournal.ie.

A police dog team was dispatched by authorities to search the ski area between the bar and the 27-year-old's staff quarters. On March 20, his shoes were discovered in the area of Horstman Creek, which runs through the Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Course.

On Tuesday night, the search and rescue team located and recovered Christian's body from the creek on Tuesday/Wednesday. Police said there was no sign of foul play.

“The observations at the scene were consistent with death due to hypothermia,” the RCMP said in a statement. “An autopsy will be conducted in the near future.”

“This was not the outcome we’d hoped for,” added Staff Sergeant Steve LeClair. “Police are saddened by this discovery and extend our sympathies to the friends and family of Mr Christian.”
