Bloomsday will be an international affair this year, with readings of James Joyce’s Ulysses to take place in 25 different cities across the globe, reports the Irish Times.

Readings will kick off tomorrow night at 9pm Irish time, when the clock strikes Bloomsday in the first of the 25 cities; Auckland, New Zealand, and end at 3.30am on Monday morning with a final reading in San Francisco. All readings will be streamed live on GlobalBloomsday.com.

Readings in Dublin will take place at the Martello tower in Sandycove, all day on Sunday June 16th. A fireworks display on Dún Laoghaire pier will kick off  the celebrations at 10.30pm tomorrow evening, with hundreds of Joycean fans set to turn out for all festivities, including a James Joyce world lookalike record attempt on Sunday.

The traditional Bloomsday breakfast will take place at The Joyce Centre on North Great George's Street.

There will be a series of readings from Joyce at the Meeting House Square in Temple Bar and a number of other events in the area.

The Dublin premiere of Bloomsday story by Robert Gogan will rattle through the whole book in the space of 100 minutes. St. Werburgh’s Church on Werburgh Street will host this event.

Fathers of Western Thought will do all 18 episodes of Ulysses on guitars and drum machines while Jimmy Fay will direct a Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man in the evening at the New Theatre in Essex Street East.
