A new survey shows that America is the top choice for Irish people looking to make short-term holidaysthis autumn.
The Irish Independent reports that Flexibletrips, a part of Thomas Cook Ireland, conducted the survey that saw American cities taking the top three spots. New York, San Francisco, and Las Vegas took top billing from the Irish survey.
John Grehan of Flexibletrips explains that the Irish have a certain partiality for US destinations. “Despite the distance involved, these cities are most people’s idea of a dream break.”
Aside from the American destinations, the Irish also cited sunny European locales as their most desired holidays.Venice came in at number four, Ibiza number five, Gran Canaria at six, Fuerteventua at nine and Barcelona at 10.
Paris and Prague came in eighth and ninth respectively.
The American top three aren’t really surprising as the US packs major retail power when considering the Euro to Dollar conversion. Similarly, New York Cityis valued more in the autumn for its cooler weather and plentitude of sights to see.
“We Irish are clearly attached to our sun holidays in the European hotspots, but the US still holds special appeal, be it for the shopping in New York, the nightlife in Las Vegas or the style of San Francisco,” said Grehan.
