Aer Lingus and JetBlue Airways today announced a code-share agreement, expanding the current interline partnership between the carriers' two networks at New York's John F. Kennedy International airport as well as Boston's Logan International airport.

The two airlines have been interline partners since 2008 with connections to over 40 destinations in the US, enabling customers to enjoy the convenience of a single booking with other benefits including one-stop check-in and baggage transfer.

Tickets featuring an Aer Lingus flight number will be available for sale, on Aer Lingus’ website, for JetBlue-operated connections between 29 cities in North America connecting through New York including Buffalo, Orlando, Rochester and Syracuse and Tampa and through Boston, including Baltimore, Dallas-Fort Worth, Fort Lauderdale, Philadelphia, and West Palm Beach, subject to receipt of government approval.

This comes at a time when Aer Lingus has increased frequencies on its transatlantic services creating many more connecting options for customers. From the end of March the airline will offer double daily flights between Dublin and New York, and Dublin and Boston, offering customers the convenience of a morning and afternoon departure. The increased capacity represents 90 additional roundtrips between Dublin and Boston.  Flights from Shannon to New York will operate three times weekly, with four weekly departures to Boston, all connecting with our partner JetBlue.

Speaking at the announcement Stephen Kavanagh, Chief Commercial Officer at Aer Lingus said, “We are delighted to extend our relationship with JetBlue, as we enter into our fifth year of partnership. Aer Lingus and JetBlue share the same customer focussed ethos and passion for innovation and best-in-class service. We’ve had fantastic feedback from customers about the high level of convenience and choice of destinations. With the new code-share agreement coupled with increased frequencies on our US routes, we look forward to providing customers with even more choice and a seamless travel experience.”

“We are pleased to expand our successful relationship with Aer Lingus with this new codeshare agreement, providing customers more access to both networks,” said Robin Hayes, JetBlue’s Chief Commercial Officer. “Aer Lingus was our first international airline partner; we’re thrilled with the strength of and growth in our partnership and happy to welcome them in our home at Terminal 5.”

The start of the new code-share arrangement coincides with Aer Lingus’ move of its New York flight operations from Terminal 4 at John F. Kennedy International Airport into JetBlue’s acclaimed Terminal 5 at JFK. From April 3rd Aer Lingus customers connecting to one of JetBlue’s many destinations across the US will benefit from same terminal connections, one-stop ticketing and baggage check-in for travel on both airlines, from the US to Europe.

With the move to T5, the minimum connection time from European arrivals to US departures will be reduced to just about 60 minutes. Customers travelling to Ireland will enjoy connections as fast as 40 minutes.
