Younger brother of Real IRA man Alan Ryan charged with murder of Michael Kelly
Ryan and alleged accomplice also charged with possession of guns
Vincent Ryan, the 22-year-old brother of the murdered Real IRA member Alan Ryan, has been charged by Irish police in connection with the death of Michael Kelly, 35, in 2011.
Kelly was shot dead in Dublin on 15 September last year.
According to the Journal, Ryan appeared before the Irish Special Criminal Court yesterday alongside his co-accused, 23-year-old Darragh Evans.
Both men were charged with possession of an assault rifle and a revolver. Last week the two men were also charged with membership of an unlawful organization.
Ryan and Evans were arrested with fifteen other people as part of an investigation into events at the funeral of Alan Ryan earlier this month, when a paramilitary salute involving the discharge of weapons outraged the general public. The two men will reportedly remain in custody until 3 October.
According to the Journal, there was a shout of support in Irish and loud applause from a packed public gallery as the two men were led away from the dock.
