"Bestiality anyone? What a bunch of sick puppies. I can only imagine what the other poses were."
It's not bestiality because it's not sexual in nature. It's a female using her breast for what it was designed to do, which is to nurture infants. While the idea itself is sexy to me, it's non-sexual in nature.
The only weird thing is that women breastfeeding animals is not common. Still, us humans drink cow milk, so why the double standard? I doubt she's even lactating. The puppy is just sucking on her nipple to show the illustration.
I think it's sexy in an endearing way. Because it takes more care and effort to nurse a creature that's not yours. I find that kind of maternal care to be attractive.
And it's far from animal abuse. If I was a woman, and I had a starving puppy, or anything in my possession, and I wanted to save it, I might do the same thing. It would be more cruel to let it die.
Hell even other animals have the instinct to nurse creatures of different species. It's not common, but not unheard of. Humans are mammals too, meaning they give milk from the breast. It's just one of the primary functions of mammals. In a way, this picture depicts that at its fullest.
Of course some people will be put off by the fact that it's a human and a dog, and only for that reason. It just looks natural. She doesn't seem to mind there's a puppy sucking her nipple, and the puppy looks cute too.
It also goes without say that that puppy will never realize how lucky it is to be in a position a lot of men would die to be in, lol.

jamieLM: : That Curpeter @12.47 is misleading all you Americans again with his anti-English bigotry. Please don’t fall for it! ....Fact:- The British Parliament banned Foxhunting in February 2005. Those British who wish to continue this bloody 'sport’, now have to go to Ireland where their bloodlust is well provided for. ..... It is ironic that this artistic picture to aid Irish animal charities is suggestive of a Metaphor for Ireland. - A snivelling parasitic runt cur that doesn’t care what tit it sucks on!

The Irish people need to find something better to do with their time. What a bunch of prudes. The amimals don't really care about how the money is raised, the fact that it gets raised is what counts! The photo's are actually pretty artistic anyway. What a creative way to raise money selling calanders for a good cause. I tip my hat to Walsh and Liver for their creativity. It's a shame the animals have to suffer because of a few prudes!!!

Well I guess what is cruelty to some is not to others. How is this cruel to the puppy? Unnecessary, yes, but get real...it does not promote bestiality and is certainly attention grabbing. The bigger question, why did the calendar maker think it was a good idea?

sirpeter, you're right. Cruelty to animals is a worldwide thing. In the U.S., we've got our usual idiots/jerks committing acts of cruelty to animals and then we have the "Michael Vick's" with their dog fighting and the low-lifes running their puppy mills, to name a few. It keeps every state's SPCAs busy, 24/7. We also prosecute animal abusers. I think the picture is stupid and distasteful. They couldn't sell a calendar with cute puppies to dog lovers unless it had provocative pictures??? Give me a break! I grew up with dogs. They were always very well treated and loved. They ate dog food, were disciplined, knew who their pack leaders were, and none of them ever bit anyone. Molygannon, there are very serious problems in the world to be concerned about, so I'd rate this as an example of "annoying" calendar producers with no common sense.

Nothing abusive about the picture - the dog appears to be having a good time. Ireland has much more to concern itself with - finance, gay priests, horrendous weather conditions. Some common sense would be beneficial.

Yerffac..I'm not disputing the fact that there is animal cruelty, but i also live in Ireland, but animal cruelty is not just confined to Ireland. The English go fox hunting and go badger baiting where the poor animals are torn limb from limb by dogs, they shoot rabbits and wild deer for sport, some get away injured and die a slow death. The Spanish have Bullfighting as a national pastime..they torture the poor bull to death. Some People are cruel to animals, but it's a world wide thing. At least you can be prosecuted in Ireland..Don't ever go to a third world country, some countries don't care about human life never mind been cruel to an animal.

Disgusting idea...there are so many other ways to raise funds and awareness for those animals in need. Someone at ASH is perverted and needs to be removed so the animals will truly be protected.

Sirpeter--maybe you live in a posh part of Ireland--and maybe you are not cruel to animals, but I lived down the country, in Co. Louth to be exact, and I saw what I saw growing up in Ireland, and I still see an appaling disregard for animals. They still drown kittens and pups. Call up any shelter and you will hear stories. I have a photo of a dead dog washed up on the Louth shore with its legs tied. Real humane.

She needs a new do - as in hairdo - some natural makeup would be nice so she doesn't resemble Cruella De Vil. She needs to give that pup to its mother's teat and save hers for when she has a baby. Honestly, people will do anything to make money.

Yerffac..Maribone just said it was disgusting, which most people think.ASH animal rescue have come out in support of the calendar.Which makes me wonder a bit.I had a goldfish once,She lives for 25 years in a big tank,Do you know why? Because i treated the goldfish as a goldfish wants to be treated.I didn't kill it with kindness or treat it like a human. But i gave what that goldfish needed to survive and be happy.ASH animal rescue, if they condone treating animals like humans like in that picture. If i had the power I would fire the lot of them, and i have a very good reason.A vet told me once, that the amount of dog owners who treat their dogs like humans by overfeeding them, smothering them to much with affection till they think they are the alpha male and then they bite someone in the family or a stranger, and then they turn on the dog and he has to be destroyed is a big problem too. Those dog owners are not animal lovers..they are animal abusers. To me that calendar besides it been a bit perverse..Is promoting animal abuse because they are targeting those "animal lovers" who think that picture is so sweet.Plus in Ireland by law you only have to give 10% of the money collected to charity,so i'll let your mind do the rest....PS: You said the Irish are not animal lovers, most Irish people are not cruel to animals. That's a sweeping statement,so you better cop on to yourself there.I don't like to be lumped in with animal cruelty.
