Ireland has had its worst summer in 26 years

Ireland officially had the gloomiest summer in the last 26 years according to Met Eireann, Ireland’s state meteorologists.
 
The experts say that while the north-west, for example Donegal and Sligo, enjoyed a little more sunshine than the rest of the country, “It’s been a bad few months and the weather hasn’t been kind to Ireland,” said a spokesperson for Met Eireann.
 
She said, “The amount of rainfall has made it the wettest on record.
 
“Everyone will be hoping there’ll be some better days in September.”
 
Cork saw the wettest summer since 1962, while Belmullet in County Mayo, saw the driest.
 
The highest rainfall was recorded at Malin Head, which as 50.9 mm fall on 22nd July. That is the highest rainfall since 1955.
 
The highest temperature was recorded at Shannon Airport on 10th August where it reached 79.1F (26.5C). The lowest temperature was recorded in Markee, County Sligo, where it reached 36.3F (2.4C) on 10th June.
 
Rachel Mulligan, from Sky Tours, told the Irish Sun, “We’re seeing that a lot of people who didn’t have any intention of going anywhere are ringing up now because they’ve had enough of the rain.”
 
Lets hope the fall is kinder to the Emerald Isle.
