Authorities at Virginia Tech College issued a lock down notice this morning after a suspect was seen carrying a weapon on campus.

In April 2007, a gunman shot and killed 32 people before shooting himself in the worst school shooting in U.S. history.

Shortly after 9am this morning three kids attending a summer camp reported seeing a white male, six foot tall, with light brown hair, outside college dorms carrying what may have been a handgun.

A campus alert remains in effect this afternoon and the school has advised all students and employees to remain secured in doors. Classes have been canceled for the remainder of the day.
