God love him. Let's hope there are lessons learned and it won't happen to another patient.
God bless this poor family. The son was a beautiful looking child, and the lab, the nurse and doctor who should have checked his labs were at fault. They won't forget this for a long time, neither will his parents and it's a tragedy. My heart goes out to this family and they are in my prayers. NYU should be ASHAMED of themselves.
Why is this always the way: an innocent patient has to die before changes are made. By the way, hope the LATimes editor that took Ms. Dowd to task for her column sees fit to extend an apology. He overlooked the big picture - a private doctor and the ER at NYU-Langone did not do their jobs. What a loss.
I can't help but be flooded with emotion upon reading this. In following all the news articles about Rory, I have felt the grief. Now Rory's parents has transformed grief into a gift for other peoples children. The Staunton's continue to amaze me. Thoughts and prayers to you.
I would like to commend Ciaran and Orlaith on their strength of character. Despite their indescribable pain at the loss of their son, they insisted on highlighting the anomalous system within the emergency services in hospitals today . Thanks to the strength and courage of these parents, the emergency services will now be re-examined with a view to ensuring that such 'mistakes' will not occur again. Cianan and Orlaith are in our thoughts and prayers here in the west of Ireland.
So many here in the US are heartbroken such a beautiful child passed especally the way Rory did, yet this has shaken the foundation of all American Hospital Emergency Rooms and will save many people.
Thank you to Rory's parents for sharing their heartbreaking ordeal in order to save the lives of many others. You are always in my thoughts and prayers.
I'm just very sorry that Rory had to die before this hospital put in place procedures that should've already been part of their established medical protocol. I hope other hospitals are taking note.
Watershed event foreshadows ensuring patient safety while in the care of doctors in hospitals, emergency rooms. Rory's Law in Action....
