Testament to popularity of the Urban Outfitters products among some consumers, Irish comedian

Chris O’Dowd, a co-star of last year’s huge hit Bridesmaids and the new film Friends With Kids, tweeted a picture of his fiancé Dawn Porter wearing a t-shirt from the line with the slogan “I’m a f***ing Leprechaun”.

The Roscommon born actor tweeted, “Look what I came home to.”

Repeated attempts by the Irish Voice to contact the press department at Urban Outfitters were unsuccessful on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, last Wednesday it was announced that Navajo, the largest Native American tribe in the U.S. is suing Urban Outfitters for using the tribe’s name on their products, including pullovers, feather earrings and underwear.

The tribe filed the suit last Tuesday in U.S. District Court in New Mexico, accusing the clothing retailer of trademark violation.

Mo naire ar Urban Outfitters! Afach, na T-leinti steireaphlatacha ceanna a dhiol san am ceanna in Eirinn. Is bronach an run e sin. Ni chuirfeadh cine ar bith eile suas le dramhail cinioch mar sin! Shame on Urban Outfitters! However, the same stereotypical T-shirts being sold at the same time in Eire (Ireland). That's sad. No other race of people would put up with ethnical trash like that.
Steady on the generalisation, guys! I'm Irish and would neither buy - not complain (i.e. inadvertently advertise) controversial merchandise from "Upchucking Infitters" (sic[k]). Even less so than I would take remotely seriously anything designer propagandistis/public relations people would sell, like a reheated British Commonwealth. Or financially lucrative but ethically-cleansed Irish trade missions to China which ignore the inconvenient truth of its abuse of Tibet and Tibetans. Free Tibet flags over Tiannemen Square NOW!
get martin to phone them,
GeorgeDillon has posted more or less what I intended to say. It's a depressing fact, but let's face it-the Irish will buy this rubbish-Urban Outfitters know this perfectly well.
Pretty amazing this company is still on the planet.
There's a lot of hypocrisy here. These same shirts are on sale in Ireland and sell very well. If the Irish don't mind being portrayed as a race of drunken fools, why should we try to spoil it for them?
