County Sligo Circuit Court has heard that the trial of the Irish nun facing 87 charges of sexual abuse will take place over two weeks next year.
The court heard that a number of disclosures had been given to the defense by the prosecution. The case initially came before the courts this March.
Judge Anthony Hunt told the court he hopes the hearing will take place in January or February, the Irish Times reports.
A number of the alleged victims of the nun were present in court on Tuesday.
The alleged offenses date back to the 1970s. The case was transferred from another county following legal action against the nun. Neither she nor her victims can be identified due to legal reasons.
The nun was remanded on bail until 2nd October, however, her case will be mentioned again on 5th June.

Many of us, who have followed "The Priest Pedophilia Scandal in the Roman Catholic Church" have known for years that Nuns were also a source of Child and Teen Sexual Abuse! Also, when a female is abused, it is less likely for her to come forward than a male. Unfortunately many nuns, who abused fell into two categories: heterosexual and homosexual! Many were also sadists, but this comes as no surprise to anyone, who has ever been taught by nuns! Hopefully, this case will open the door for others to have the courage to come forward and get healed! Jeannie

@KatieMurphy - If they think so, I think they are badly mistaken. I believe that the outrage is here to stay and will last until people see changes in the policies and practices of the RCC hierarcy.

The more I think about this one - your comments please - is this just another way to hide the problem, figuring by next year we will all have forgetten about a new variation of the endless hidding of molestation of children.?

If she is found to be guilty, I hope they throw the book at her. Some one should tell the pope to get with it and allow there clergy to marry or this will continue. SingleDonald just because you never wittnessed this happening does't mean that it wasn't happening.

I wonder; were these victims boys, girls, or both? Fortunately, I never witnessed, or even heard of sexual abuse, by priests or sisters, when I was in Catholic Grade School. Neither have I heard of such in the present time, although one classmate said that a certain priest, who arrived there after we left, was a prime suspect. I am referring, of course, to my Catholic Grade School, located in Woodside, N.Y.
