Britain has gone Queen mad this weekend with a four-day festival to celebrate 60 years on the throne. Here are some little known facts about her majesty and her cohorts.
1. Prince Phili,p her husband, has had several affairs, says Newsweek editor Tina Brown, an expert on the royal family.
2. Servants must freeze in place and avoid eye contact if they run into one of the royals in the hallway or corridor
3. She’s very small, officially 5 foot 3 inches but most believe she’s really about 5 foot 1
4. Prince Philip was born in Greece and is no more English than Barack Obama (where’s HIS birth certificate?)
5. The Queen once entertained an intruder in her bedroom for several minutes until security arrived.
6. Prince Phillip’s sisters married top Nazis. All the royal family is of German roots
7. If she lives three more years she outlasts Victoria as the longest reigning monarch ever.
8. Prince Phillip once remarked about his daughter Princess Anne’s obsession with horses, “If it doesn’t fart or eat hay she’s not interested."
9. She loves hunting and shooting animals on her Scottish estate
10. She says her trip to Ireland was one of the highlights of her long reign

A little negative some of the 10 things I thought. I take my hat off to her for the way she has risen above politics for yesterday's performances from so many countries, not all now members of the Commonwealth. The flash back to the meeting she had with John XX111(good Pope John] was interesting. No sign of Benedict's. Prince Phillip's mother Alice [Princess Andrew of Greece] by the way, is buried in the convent grounds of St Mary Magdalene on the Mount of Olives which overlooks the believed Garden of Gethsemene. If you can't find his birth certificate, there would be avenues to find his Baptism one if an issue. An un-neccesary aspersion. A gracious and committed lady.

As an American and an equal to the "royals" as we have no "commoners," I am amazed and frightened by the subserviance of the "commoners." I have watched the "commoners" in England complaining about being wiped out financially and although I was not interested enough to watch one minute of this fairy tale, I have heard of their groveling before the people they call "royal." For the CNN viewers, please know that US TV viewership is at an all time low. Bob Schieffer, a renowned news man said on his CBS show just before the marriage of "Wills and Kate" that he had as much interest in the "royals" as he had in his neighbors golf score. No matter what propaganda the "royals," useless Hollywood or CNN put out there is very little interest in the useless royals of England.
Bythebay | Jun 05, 2012, 02:20 PM EDT
The world's media is covering the Jubilee celebrations including the US and Ireland and millions have turned out in London to see them and more millions have watched them on tv. The Queen enjoys great popularity.

GeorgeDillon - My cousin in Pittsburgh said he enjoyed the bits he saw...then again, happily he doesn't share those bitter, curmudgeonly Dillon genes, TG...
DanOLoingsigh | Jun 05, 2012, 01:43 PM EDT
chicksooze - only a complete C**T would want to celebrate the demise of any old pensioner...
ciaradexy | Jun 05, 2012, 12:26 PM EDT
Sirpeter, the term West Brit should only be given to the type who vote in X-factor but dont bother voting in their own referendum. The people I know who actually use that term follow Man Utd and Celtic etc and they use it to slag off people from Dublin who follow our own rugby team! That term is a joke!
chicksooze | Jun 05, 2012, 10:55 AM EDT
Who gives a flying F**K about this C**T. They only thing I'll be celebrating is when she kicks the bucket.
GeorgeDillon | Jun 05, 2012, 10:34 AM EDT
My cousin in Ireland was disgusted with CNN for spending the whole day on Sunday showing the "celebrations" in London. What a sad excuse for a news channel, when they think unlimited hour after hour coverage of this event represents international news.

Re. 2 above. Are the royals given remote controls to freeze-frame (FF/REW) servants? 3. Is this a case of the incredibly shrinking monarch/'y. 8. Does this shed any light on the dietary/flatulent habits of her ex-paramours. 9. Does this include poachers and/or Scottish nationalists/republicans. If EIIR is 50% Scottish because of her mother, De Valera is 50% Irish because of his. What nationalities were the other 50%? Dev's was Cubano-New Yorker. Prince Philip is reputed to have described the Irish as being very much like their weather. Dull and unpredictable! Funny? As if the weather is radically different acoss the water in the UK.
allan07 | Jun 04, 2012, 03:05 PM EDT
Barack Obama is less than 3% Irish. How can you be less than 3% Irish? How stupid of the Irish to make such a claim? The Queen is 50% scottish as her mother was scottish and had the name Bowes Lyons. It was quite normal for Queens and Kings throughout Europe to arrange for their children to marry between royal families. German roots yes but so what? De Valera wasn't Irish either. Born in New York the son of a Spaniard. Hardly a Irish name De Valera is it? Anyway the Irish can hardly hate the Germans, the third Reich or the nazi party as many supported them as they were opposed to Britain. Lord Haw Haw was Irish I believe and supported the Third Reich. Of course the republican groups supported the third Reich as well. Most of this article is just mean spirited and nasty written by a republican with bigotary on his mind.
EphraimKibbey | Jun 04, 2012, 01:57 PM EDT
@hughor2 - I was watching a news broadcast Saturday about the Jubilee and it said that the monarchy brought about twice what it cost into the UK economy each year. I would not regret a 100% return on one of my investments year after year. So to relate that to Ireland, are there any pretenders to High King of Tara floating around? Just incase you want to double your money quickly. O'Hara's are you listening?
BulldogMania | Jun 04, 2012, 12:48 PM EDT
If I may respond. Number 1 is totally unsubstantiated. This would fall under the heading, Gossip sells newspapers and magazines. Number 2 is not at all true. Members of the Royal House speak in glowing terms about the royal family. I only recall some negative comments about the Duchess of York and the Princess of Wales being aloof and difficult. Number 3 makes you sound petty. Does her height matter? How many Royal Marines can you muster at the push of a button? Number 4 is true, HRH Prince Philip was born in Greece. What's your point? Number 5 is true. When she asked the intruder if she could call for a cigarette, and she did, her staff knew something was up and they immediately came to her aid. Number 6 is one that I must research, however, given the fact that most of these points are wrong, misleading or at best petty, I'm inclined to believe this isn't true. Number 7 is absolutely correct. God Save the Queen! Number 8 sounds like something Prince Philip would say. He is known for his sense of humor and, at times, rather direct comments. Number 9 is also true, Her Majesty is an avid sportsman. Number 10 is also true, Her Majesty did make that comment. Overall, I'd have to say this is a rather amusing list of "Royal Facts." The author appears very petty.
SAirish | Jun 04, 2012, 12:37 PM EDT
As an Irish born person living in the UK, I find this very childish and not representative of real Irish people. Frank Hayes must be one of those demented Irish half Americans.
normtipperary | Jun 04, 2012, 12:22 PM EDT
I respect this lady and recall when she was firs elected to the role of Queen. She represents some histroy and I find the comments in this issue really degrading from small minded people Norman wallace
citizen69 | Jun 04, 2012, 11:33 AM EDT
Almost all those points are negative. Just another poor excuse for IrishCentral to have a dig at the British monarch. Get a life.
geneq | Jun 04, 2012, 11:03 AM EDT
This article is supposed to be 10 facts about Elizabeth, so why do 4 of them focus on Phillip? A more appropriate title would be "Ten Irrelevant Comments About British Royals". This article couldn't be less newsworthy unless it included Kardashians
jamieLM | Jun 04, 2012, 08:36 AM EDT
Oh, please, Prince Phillip is of Danish & German descent. He is not of Greek ancestry. Read the history of how his family came to rule in Greece. There's never been any solid proof of any affairs, either. # 5 is poorly worded. The Queen hardly "entertained", in the usual sense of the word, a strange man who broke into her bedroom. Some of this article is poorly written. I'm an American, so I'm hardly a "royalist" or west Brit. @Realist, you said it so well.
Realist | Jun 04, 2012, 06:59 AM EDT
Some people here have implied that this article is unworthy of IC. I disagree; I think it is entirely representative of its standards of research, intelligence, journalistic profundity, and political agenda. For the slow learners amongst you, that was not a compliment.
Realist | Jun 04, 2012, 06:41 AM EDT
The Queen and the institution of monarchy enjoy levels of popularity amongst the people of the United Kingdom that politicians everywhere would envy. This article is little more than a juvenile attempt to make dirt of another county's heritage and traditions. If you never want to see a "united Ireland" then please continue writing pieces like this and using terms such as "west brit". Yet another pointless and sadly predictable low for IC. Shame.
sirpeter | Jun 03, 2012, 09:28 PM EDT
I think we should have more articles like this for our West Brits on IC.All these statements are true and very amusing.Isn't that right Bythebay?
americano | Jun 03, 2012, 09:18 PM EDT
In the UK the Royal family and in particular Queen Elizabeth 2 are appreciated because they create entertainment for the general public. Whenever the Queen proceeds around the country either in traditional horse carriages, or in top range motor cars, the public cheers & cheers with flags and flowers, and the Queen waves & waves wearing her traditional white cloves, the public loves it. The Queen has of course no political power, all she has to do is sign the political decision taken by parliament in order to make it legal. Traditionally, every Tuesday the serving prime minister has a private meeting with the Queen, the discussions are entirely kept private. The British public regard the Royal family as entertainment, the Queen does understand this and does it well, she is doing a good job and the people love her. It is hoped that she can carry on for many years to come ... God save the Queen.
hughor2 | Jun 03, 2012, 08:15 PM EDT
megK311 what in the article is untrue. It is all true and the English are incredibly naive about supporting these worthless people. what has any of the "royals" done for the average Englishman?
oaklongan | Jun 03, 2012, 06:31 PM EDT
Put on the classical station this am and wondered WHY they were playing "God Save the Queen" with full lyrics! God Save the American Republic to truly be that! All I know about U.K.'s Queen Elizabeth II is her father and great-great? grandmother Victoria were from a German family. Her mother Mary was Scottish?? Her husband Prince Philip is her 1st? cousin...TIME magazine ran a piece (think in the 1980's) on certain members of the late Queen Victoria's offspring? being inbred and reportedly one was kept away from public knowledge in one of their estates. Seems Victoria was related to 'royalty' all over Europe, including the non-Russian 'royalty' Romanovs(as keeping power in that particular family). Some of the ancient Egyptian rulers were inbred (Ankhenaton comes to mind)...the list goes on. Not getting into inbred poor families from the Ozarks among here in the U.S. from the 1800's forward...
Seanmor | Jun 03, 2012, 06:17 PM EDT
I read somewhere that this queen spoke cúpla focal Gaeilge in Dublin last year. I don't know if that's true, but if it is, not all Partitionist politicians in that city understood her.
Paradigm | Jun 03, 2012, 04:41 PM EDT
I think she's pretty much A-OK and we got her because of her ancestry. When one looks at and compares her with most US Presidents it sort of underpins the argument for abolishing democracy.
MegK311 | Jun 03, 2012, 04:27 PM EDT
God Bless Queen Elizabeth she has been a wonderful Queen and I wish her many more happy years. As for Frank Hayes and his article it is not worth the paper it was written on. Just low class junk writing.
SAirish | Jun 03, 2012, 04:13 PM EDT
The article seems to have been written by an eight year old child.
oldboreen | Jun 03, 2012, 02:23 PM EDT
A new high in pettiness IC! Or was your "contribting writer" Mr Hayes so behind in meeting his schedule, that he scribbled this nonsense on the back of a cigarette packet on his way into the office? It's clearly intended to be offensive to a head of state, in which at least two million of your fellow Irish are happy to live and work!Watch your standards IC! You're descending rappidly into tacky tabloid mode!
Bythebay | Jun 03, 2012, 02:12 PM EDT
MaryFCNC, the pettyness of this article is standard fare for those seeking to demean to further their own ends. What they said has not diminished the regard with which Queen Elizabeth II is held. Jubilee celebrations reflect that.
markday | Jun 03, 2012, 01:45 PM EDT
Hey, Irish Central, you've offended a royalist. At least you've done something right. i'll get a friend to subscribe to take Mary's place.
MaryFCNC | Jun 03, 2012, 01:29 PM EDT
I am disappointed by the pettiness of this article, and am unsubscribing from your email.
Nicomax | Jun 03, 2012, 01:10 PM EDT
I've got to hand it to the British Royal Family, they have outdone the Kardasians- and all on the taxpayers pence.
