Wish the northernised Irish the best of Irish luck commemorating the centenary of the launch of this leviathan of the deep. It's a sneak preview of just what is possible by the democratisation of the island of Ireland. Scotch-on-the-rocks for me. Slainte/Good health!
It looks stunning and I can't wait to visit. Bravo, Belfast!
Bythebay, is anti-Irish. Of course, we should support the Belfast exposition. Belfast is where the Titanic was built. Northern Ireland is where we have witnesses Sinn Fein actively governing for the first time since the Civil War. As for redhand32, the poster seems to be obsessed with something that happened over 100 years ago instead of sharing in the joy of a revived Belfast led by Sinn Fein.
The other evening CNN's Nick Robertson should be congratulated on his 2 minutes or so piece about Titanic Belfast. Most notably, Robertson correctly explained how Harland and Wolff before and after the Titanic, like other companies, embraced what N. Ireland's first Prime Minister proclaimed as "a Protestant state for a Protestant people" by active discrimination against the province's Catholics. The sectarianism is also bigpart of the Titanic legacy. Fortunately, Mr. Robertson was not cowed by obscurantist gatekeepers of these "facts."
well done, Belfast!
