George, theyre not 'concerts' theyre called 'sessions' and the ones you attend, you know the ones full of tourists are not the real thing. The real thing is full of Irish people. We keep the good stuff to ourself.
Palmeiras, (another lovely fake profile name by the way), Im not into that kinda music so I certainly wasnt there.

Only thing worse than being possessed by a demon - is not being possessed by one! With the decline and fall of the [Holy?] Roman Empire, (the 'divil' we knew), contemporary Irish adolescents and early adults have given vacant possession(?) to the seven demons of petit bourgeoisieism - political correctness - neo liberalism - indulgent parenting - conspicuous consumerism - multiculturalism - vacuous subjectivity. Bring back military service for 17-21 years olds to compensate for the conspicuous parental deficit in Europeanised and globalised post modern Ireland. Nothing like a good kick up the transom with a hobnailed boot to cure a bout of terminal irreverence.

"We dont have concers here for tourists". That's yet another lie, ciaradexy. Most concerts of Irish traditional music and dancing are put on specifically for the tourists, as the Irish themselves have no interest and look down on Irish music & traditional culture. Stop the lies, ciara, you'll get away with nothing here.

Seagreen, We dont have concers here for tourists just like you dont have concerts inthe US for tourists.
Yates, you'll be fine. Have a good holiday but no one cares if you have Irish ancestry. Infact, every Americanwe meet tells us they do anyway and to be honest, it bores the face of us. We are more interested in those who just want to come here out of interest and not because they hope theyll meet a leprechaun that they are related to. Yawn!
You'll have a great time here, I promise.

WoundedKnee, there are racist people in Ireland as there are in other countries in the world. I am Spanish, married to an Irishman (and not the dark type, with light colour hair and green eyes) and I have encountered some form of xenophofia, and it's worse in the country where people are quite close-minded. I wonder sometimes about the black people and why the keep to themselves...

This will happen over and over again until we bring in zero tolerance. The Gardai haven't got the manpower or the willpower to tackle this sort of problem, and believe me this is a major problem in this small country of ours. The Gardai know that if they try to stop something like this they will only make it worse and also stand a good chance of getting sued themselves. Take out the drugs and excessive drink abuse and make parents responsible for their kids.

yates: "I read that the Irish are still so incredibly racist toward people of color". What utter nonsense. I don't believe you read this anywhere, unless it was from the crazy posts of people like sirpeter and ciaradexy on this site. It's YOU who is the racist, writing offensive garbage about a country you're too lazy to find out about. Apologize now.

100 to 1, Not one of those "stabber's "their watchers" nor those who did Ireland a favor by overdosing... HAD A Fn. tax producing Job...... My bet, they were Liberal Bastid's all!! And to think that I did two years in the Daingean work camp(58-60) for stealing 35 shilling (5$ then) from a Gas Meter.... The way things are there now... I would probably have been given a medal and a write-up in The Mail......... It looks like Ireland is F***ed; with a CAPITOL "F"..... If not HOME? Just where in "F" can we pick as a "Place of Honor" to be buried???

Definetly the fault of the Catholic Church and the Christian Brothers ! If they had been Muslim or Protestant they would not have had all this repressive "guilt" and would just have been normal out of control teenagers .Amazing the unfortunate influence of what your contributors normally refer to as the "Church " in Ireland who taught children discipline and respect . Thankfully ,their standards have now dissappeared and we can indulge in drugs, stabbings and sex without any Catholic inhibitions !

Of course, the events at the park are horrifying; there's no way around that.
But, as an American with Irish ancestry -- gotta tell ya -- comments not sounding good. You know, Snoop Dogg is like a lot of human beings in the sense that he is a well-rounded individual with many different attributes. I have looked forward with great anticipation to visiting Ireland for a long time, that is until I read that the Irish are still so incredibly racist toward people of color, particularly in the country. Since my husband is a Puerto-Rican American with Black features there is no way I would subject him to any of that. And -- he loves rap and Snoop Dogg. I kind of like Snoop myself, and I understand him. Sad. I wanted to rent a car and drive all around the countryside visiting. And now I am sooo not. Still proud of my Irish ancestry, but your comments confirm it's not a good place for a mixed race couple. When well you grow up?

Dinglelady, in response to your post/questions. Not sure your age but I'm 65. We enjoyed the Wolfe Tones in our 30's (Spiddal & Bundoran where they would play weekly), however, there were a younger element who always liked to do slam-dancing to the Tones. They even had a mosh pit before there was a name for it. Now, if this was the behavior for the Wolfe Tones, imagine what was happening for other groups back then.
