Thousands of people protested against austerity measures at a rally in Dublin on Sunday.

In anticipation of expected budget cuts next month, organizers of the union-led march called for the government to reverse its policy of austerity.

Speaking to the crowd, ICTU president Eugene McGlone said the government could make budget adjustment through taxes on high-earners, property, capital and corporate income, without making cuts on social welfare, reports RTE.

Police estimated that 2,000 people took part in the protest, which was backed by the Irish Congress of Trade Unions, SIPTU, UNITE and Mandate.

2,000 people only. Not much of a protest. The old age pensioners did better than that a few years back.
Surprising how much the "occupiers" and the Tea Parties have in common. Both smell the rats.
