Fianna Fail appear to have come back from the political dead and they are now Ireland’s second biggest party according to a new Irish Times poll.

The party left office in disgrace two years ago and their numbers slumped but the new poll shows them at 21 per cent, up four points from the last poll.

Sinn Fein come in right behind them on 20 per cent but the Labour Party vote is at just 12 per cent.

Still well ahead is Fine Gael with 31 per cent but satisfaction with the Fine Gael/Labour government is down by six points.

Enda Kenny, current Prime Minister, is the most popular political leader, while Sinn Fein’s Gerry Adams comes in second.

A massive 14 per cent of the population stated they would vote for independent candidates in the next election in at least two years time.

Fianna Fail has made their comeback as anger about the austerity measures of the current government continues. It remains to be seen if they can maintain their high level of support.

Imní an toradh seo go mór liom. An Saighdiúirí na Fhaila a meata i saighdiúirí de fhortún i ndiaidh 15 bliana amaideach gcumhacht sna 26, (i gceannas ar an áthbainceach fíorúil an stáit). Dealraíonn sé go bhfuil dearmad déanta ag toghthóirí feiceálach dearmadaich stairiúil. Ceachtar 21% de Gaeilge idé-eolaíocht neamhliteartha, nó go polaitiúil áthléigh. Níos measa fós, féadfaidh siad a bheith fiú pianféin. Faraoir! Stoc feirmeoir ocras bócht daonraí na céimeanna an chomhlachta Gaeilge polaiteach, a chúiteamh go pearsanta níos mó le haghaidh siondróm gorta i rith a dtéarmaí oifige cúig bliana. Baile Phámar fuair sé ceart. "Éillíonn cumhact. Agus truaillithe cumhacht iomlán go hiomlán!" A toghthóirí is mó le caolach i dtreo uathachas eiticiúil, shaothrú ag féiners dom le mhéara fada agus cuimhní cinn gearr. Is é an deacracht le thar-Eireann go raibh reiligiún pholaitíocht, agus polaitíocht tá reiligiún. Agus creidim roinnt i ndáiríre iad go fóill. Réiteach: Vótaí do diaspóra láithrreach bonn!
This result worries me greatly. The Soldiers of Destiny who degenerated into soldiers of fortune after an inadvisable 15 years in power in the 26, (presiding over the virtual bankrupting of the state). Seems to have been forgotten by a conspicuously historically amnesiac electorate. Either 21% of Irish are ideologically illiterate, or politically dyslectic. Worse still, they may even be mascochistic. Sometimes I despair at my fellow countrymen. And this is one of those times. Is it not evident after 90 years of autonomous misadventure that neither shade of political greyness can deliver the national goods. Alas! Hungry peasant farmer stock swell the ranks of the Irish body politic, who personally over compensate for a famine syndrome during their five year terms of office. Palmerston got it right. "Power corrupts. And absolute power corrups absolutely!" A majority electorate with a proclivity towards ethical autism, exploited by mé féiners with long fingers and short memories. The trouble with retro Ireland is that religion was politics, and politics is religion. And some actually believe them still. Solution: Votes for diaspora asap!
So 21% would root for the cowardly, self-serving Soldiers of Infamy; the party which ruined this country, signed away an off-shore gasfield for nothing, helped introduce gas-fracking to Ireland.. Therefore, 21% of Irish are terminally stupid Paddies..?
There is no limit to the level of stupity in the country.I see comments from my friends on F/B "great night in Murphys last night all the lad's were there"we had great crack !! My comment "great night compared to what ? the night before sitting at home in the cold broke waiting to get the dole money so you can go out for one night.Only the fools left.lol. a country of loosers, loosers
Just when you think that the level of stupidity in that Island couldn't get any worse..
The westBrit is more popular than Gerry. I doubt it.
Could it be because people have seen SF in the North cave in to the welfare reforms they could have blocked but didn`t.
A GARDA SPOKESMAN SAID: "Shur, it didn't take long far da Gombeen min - and frend ta da farmers, remember! - ta git da Parish Pump workin' agin"! Then he added: "yerra, and begob, shure thay can't wait to have anudher go at desthroyin' da counthry entirely!
Another Gentrifying Bi-Partisan Plot, at stemming the Tide of Sinn Fein and the Global Unrest surrounding Right Wing EU austeritism !
Dont take long for the stupid Irish to forget who got us into the mess in the first place, Fina Gale Build the country then fianna fail step in and wreck it again (I Give Up)
the whining whiner is back - he stood up to Gerry - that's it. Gerry hold ideas upsetting to their queen and her band of deadbeats.
