Today only the Yankees or Lady Gaga would command a quarter of a million people to crowd downtown Manhattan. The percent of our population voting was much greater then as well. We are now down to limited participation by the ordinary citizen, but dominated by massive funding from those with the most to gain financially. The only hope is that the ordinary citizen takes more interest and actually vote.

After reading those words from long ago, I finally realize why the dead rose out of their graves in Chicago to vote for him. That waqs under the old Mayor Daley and nothing has changed there since.

On the eve of another election in a time of crisis, it's good to remember words that, through all the confusing changes, sounded a steady beat of confidence in our political will: "“We are here tonight because in other great periods of crisis we have chosen to go forward. And I am confident tomorrow in 1960, November 8, this country will once again choose progress, this country will once again choose to go forward, this country will once again choose to go to work to build a strong society here and to build a peaceful and productive world."--JFK. Thanks for the memories!
