hermitTalker - Don't suppose you have any evidence re a nationality? Fist name spelling is typically American...agree that this young man unlikely to be traumatised by the experience....

20 years in prison for having a consensual sexual relationship with a person of legal age? Are we in Afghanistan or some other backward country here? This should not be a criminal case at all. There should, obviously, be disciplinary actions from the school where she was teaching for serious violation of codes of conduct. But why is the government getting involved in this at all? Stupid, conservative red-neck state must be the answer.

Very unprofessional! For all you prudes, probably immoral.
18 year old boys are stupid and goofy. He probably is a hero among his peers, but it is hardly child molestation with an 18 year old and hardly should be punishable by 20 years in prison. She should not, however, be a teacher nor a family woman.

I fully agree with allentown! Despite the teacher/student relationship, this young man was a consenting adult! I hardly see him as a "victim", and I hope he has the decency to not vilify Rachelle, in court. True, it was wrong for a married woman to get involved with him, but this doesn't rise to the level of a "criminal offense", as I see it. I know that some states, including Texas & Ohio, have new laws which criminalize intimacy between high school teachers and students, even if they reach the age of consent. This is plain wrong, and I hope the appellate courts soon see it that way. Anyway, the cases I have reviewed all have the teacher NOT getting 20 years! Penalties are usually not severe, and shouldn't even be meted out at all!

Why this story on here? Female? Heenan, married name, probably English? US moral contradiction, "my body, my choice" and 18 is adult? OR 20 years when DWI with death gets five years in some places, and statutory rape is tossed aside for "choice." She needs prayers not global publicity.
