I know them and I stay far away from them. Very bad news. I don't care about any social theorizing or psychobabble; they are.bad trouble: all of them.

A story in last yesterday's Irish Times reported a Dinegal Fianna Fail deputy getting into trouble with the politically correct brigade for saying something to theeffect that Travellers should housed away from the settled community in a town with their own kind. That they are indulged by social welfare with spanking new houses which they end up wrecking, etc. Whilst it's important not to generalise, my experience is that the older guys are more problematical. They're regrettably damaged people. But no one is ethnicist to not want to live next door to them. I wish them luck, without my participation.

Agreed IrelandNorth. I worked from time to time with a security company that had to try and control their activities, and one thing I learned is that with most their bark is bigger than their bite. If they approached you, you never ran, always stood your ground. Some of the older travellers are good people. But then you had that 1% that carried guns and you needed police back up when entering their sites. Lets not hate all travellers because of this, but lets get rid of the 1%'ers...

Dangerously repressed people. Centuries of resentment to offload on the first unsuspecting person who crosses their path. I've done social work with them. Their men are over-compensatorily super-macho, abusive, controlling and manipulative of their women. Well-balanced Irishmen. A chip on both shoulders. Work for a conference of psychiatrists.

Ireland has to have a shoot to kill policy to deal with people like this. Once people like this have been identified as being part of gangs that have threatened the murder of innocent children, women and men, then the request to kill them by the police should go through the court system to ensure no abuse, and if the courts deem the request fair, then the order should be made to shoot these people. Irish community, you have a part to play here. No cowardice or sheepishness! Inform the police immediately and confidentially if you are aware of anyone like this who is a threat to our community and society. If you don't, then the Irish people, the majority, will always be held hostage by the very small minority.....NEVER LET THE MINORITY RULE THE MAJORITY!!!!!
