Susan Boyle 'shaken up' by American stalker

Cowell sends security force to protect music sensation

Susan Boyle has reportedly stepped up her security measures after being stalked by an American woman.
 
Boyle has apparently received a number of letters from the ‘stalker’, but finally asked for extra protection when the fan turned up at her home in West Lothian, Scotland.
 
The American woman was stopped by bodyguards, but Boyle was apparently “shaken up” following the incident.  
 
"Britain's Got Talent" chief Simon Cowell has sent extra staff to look after the 48-year-old.

“Simon is not taking any chances,” a source said.

“This woman is constantly following Susan around the world. It is a middle-aged American woman who has become obsessed with her.

“At first, people thought it was no more than a nuisance. But after what happened to Leona everyone is taking extra precautions.

“This is an important month for Susan and everyone wants it to go smoothly,” the source said.

jennVT, you said it. The people in Simon Cowell's inner circle, his judges, are the ones that have hurt Susan, yet they appear to still be on the payroll. He's the last person I'd want looking out for me.

How can I be a stalker lovemusic if what you put out there the whole world can read? I'm not invading your privacy. Another spinner called lovemusic. MarkUSA looks a wee bit obsessed IMO.

We have a definite stalker of the Susan fans on Irish Central and his name is busterbrown. He knows every move the fans make. This is not normal, healthy behavior and constitutes an obsession. Concerning the stalker story, it is completely fabricated. There is not one shred of substantiated evidence. The "American woman" being accused has been harassed for months by the trolls/stalkers who reported this story to The Sun. She is the farthest thing from a stalker. When people are so obsessed with harassing someone and accusing them of being something they are not, then THEY are the SICK individuals. And for people to start in on the "twins" bashing is another SICK obsession. I really thought Irish Central was above repeating these trashy stories fabricated by the tabloids, but apparently they are not. What a shame!

I agree, the tabloids have been brutal to Susan Boyle. As well as Sharon Osbourne who has no class and whose empty apology has no credibility. Amanda Holden is another who has mocked her. SB has a huge fan base of respectful, loving fans. I don't believe this story, true or not, reflects the behavior of the majority of fans. It's the 1% lunatic fringe who think they own her or should have access to her at any time. There is no denying that there are people like that.

If susan Boyle is being stalked it is by the trash talking tabloids. Her one billion /- worldwide fans know this, and have been quite outspoken to criticize the rag mouths at the drop of a hat. It comes as no surprise to me that this story is being reported with no corroborating details, as a deliberate snub aimed at what the media deems makes up Ms. Boyle's fan base [middle aged american women]. It is a sad state the journalism arena is in that it allows such unsubstantiated piddle to be published. I am sure Simon has beefed up Susan's security, but not on account of one avid fan, but on account of the same rabid papparazzi that a while back robbed the world of a Princess.

Amen Dbrd654 and another thing - stalkers go through great expense in order to stalk their victims. Their intentions arent always to harm their victims. Sometimes - especially with celebrities - they want to be famous too or they do it in hopes to get hired to be her personal assistant.

Fans who say they would travel to her house uninvited, while may not do her physical harm, are exhibiting stalker-like behavior, imo. Leave this poor woman alone and give her her right to privacy. Same with the self-appointed ambassador twins -- really creepy behavior, staying at the tavern, inverviewing locals, etc. I cannot believe people think this is normal behavior. It's one thing, being a fan of her singing and even having strong feelings about her, but there are boundaries and some people don't know theirs.

Sounds to me that SOMEONE is trying to distract what is really going on in Susan Boyles life. The people in the circle of Simon Cowell are the ones causing problems for Susan. Amanda Holden, Sharon Osbourne for example have done much more harm to Susan than a fan that really cares for Susan. Susan Boyle should have security at all times whether someone is stalking her or not. But who is going to protect her from the trash that Simon Cowell has on his payroll. I think this distraction from what is really going on is not going to work.Have security and protect Susan Boyle but remember to protect her from the real culprits like Sharon Osbourne and Amanda Holden.

BB, you're scaring me, I think you're stalking her fan club. You know everything we do and say. I'm wondering what sort of strange letters a stalker would be writing? Letters about how her fan club doesn't understand her, about how their selfish needs are undermining her safety....who would write such comments?

I wish there were more details. This scares me because if I could afford to travel around the world I would like to be where Susan Boyle performs. I would even go to her house to see if I could meet her. That does not mean I am a stalker, just a fan. I am curious about the letters this stalker sent to Susan. Were they threatening? I would say unless they have concrete evidence that this lady was out to harm Susan, she was probably a huge fan.

Why are there never any supporting facts or photos with stories like this? Come on. Name? Hype? There are no Americans after Susan Boyle. America loves Susan Boyle. I think the Brits made this up because they are afraid she likes it in America too much.

Well, good on you, BB. I like the "youngster" comment, since I at least am far from it. And, you are right again, in truth we don't know how Susan herself feels about the nickname "SuBo". I think it has a negative connotation for so many because it was begun as a demeaning nickname in some of the yellow press. I have no problem with it personally, maybe someday she will voice an opinion on it.

I believe that Susan Boyle should have protection. She is a one-in-a-billion talent and there are some strange people around who like to stalk famous people. Susan Boyle is not only famous--she is a very special lady with a very special talent. LinLinisme

After reading the Daily Mail I've changed my mind about Susan. Originally I thought she was a fake but you won't see me joining a fan club or standing in the cold waiting to see her. Not with TV the internet and DVDs. I'm too old to go fan chasing. Thats for the younsters. Besides as adults we are suppose to be setting examples for our children on how to respect and save money instead of showing them different ways to waste it. I thought Susan liked being called SuBo. My mistake.

You have a valid point, Busterbrown, but it is hardly fair to lump all of Susan Boyle's fan into one generality. Well, not the "SuBo", that was kinda childish, but your other comment is spot on in that Susan certainly does not "belong" to any group, and the majority of fans feel the same way. So, please don't generalize Susan's fans and I won't generalize those who aren't her fans as musically illiterate, tone-deaf misfits.

Calling SuBos 'Our Susan' is not normal. She does not belong to anyone. Just because you purchased her CD - you do not own her. I read one fand said she wanted free tickets to SuBos Christmas show because she thought she was entitled to them. Her fans expect up close and personal and free stuff. You expect SuBo is going to invite you over for dinner and share haggis and tea with you. You people get pretty ugly.

There have been false stories spread about a certain fan, which stories I happen to know with absoluteness are entirely slander. Susan and her people would have no way of knowing they are a character attack on an innocent person. In any case, Susan should be protected. But if anyone every were to actually try to harm her, they would be the ones running for cover, because she has fans worldwide that would be most unhappy with them. But character assault is just that, so be aware and be wise. There are sickos in this world, and they may or may not be this unnamed fan.

There are unstable people among us and any of us can be victims. I am sure being admired and well known puts people at considerably more risk. Like most of Susan's fans, I want only the best for Susan and hope they do whatever is necessary to keep her safe.

Ha! Have you kept track of your own activities lately? You send cards - letters - emails - letters - gifts - videos. You create Susan fantasies give out prizes to the most active Susan member. You spend thousand to travel just to see SuBo sing one song. You wear vibrant colors to get her attention. You post all this on a public message board where any nut can read it. You even go as far as finding out what flights she on and hotels she stays on and post those on the internet too. Stupid much?

Stuff Happens! There are a lot of really crazy people out there. John Lennon, Monica Seles, Leona Lewis, and many more have found out the hard way. It is about time they put extra security around Susan whether this is an actual threat or not.

I think there may be more danger to Susan from the "source" who invented this story. There are many individuals who get their kicks out of attacking not only Susan, but also her fans. (Check out busterbrown's activity on this site, for example.) There is no evidence presented anywhere in this story, merely the word of some unnamed source who may well be a troll with an axe to grind. I'm glad Susan is getting extra security; I think it would be even more important to investigate this "source" to find out if this is one of those who hide their libel behind the anonymity of the Internet.

I've felt for some time now that eventually some crazy person would try something with Susan. She has one of the most recognized faces in the world. It brings back into the limelight what happened to John Lennon. I'm glad that Simon will do whatever it takes to keep Susan safe. We, her fans, want Susan around for a long time. :-)
