The usual method for hiring in bars, restaurants, retail and hotels: First walk-in visit: "Nothing right now. No, we don't anticipate hiring." ... Second Walk-In Visit: "We may have an opening coming up. But we're really not sure. Not too likely, but possible." ... Third walk-In Visit: "Let's talk." ... Someone who keeps coming back is likely to be hard-working and reliable.
Nice article. Seven days and finding work? I'm 2 1/2 years at it here in the Old Sod!
Shameless Self-Promotion Alert! Anyone moving to New York and looking for a full year's lease on a NYC apartment should check out www.NakedApartments.com. We have 10,000 listings, a large percentage of which are no-fee, have reviews of brokers from other renters, let you anonymously make an inquiry about an apartment, and more. We'll help you avoid any other 'troubles with accommodation'!
A nice read Molly Muldoon. The tv series Friends which I never really watched showed them living in what can only be described as a penthouse.Unrealistic of course.I can imagine 10 Irish people all sharing a room and in concert all turning to the left or right collectively as they sleep.Roll over roll over.Reading the article I get the impression had Irish Central not contacted that landlady who refused to answer the phone the students may well not have got their refund.Kudo's for doing that for them.
