Stressed-out Susan Boyle checks in to exclusive clinic

Star suffers 'breakdown' in wake of shock defeat

The Best Of Susan Boyle: Video playlist of all her performances

Singing sensation Susan Boyle has been admitted to an exclusive London clinic in the wake of Saturday's shock defeat in "Britain's Got Talent."

The 48-year-old is said to have suffered an "emotional breakdown" following Saturday's final and sought help at the exclusive $1,100-a-night Priory.

Former Priory patients include the stepdaughter of Pierce Brosnan, supermodel Kate Moss, and musicians Eric Clapton, Ronnie Wood and Pete Doherty.

Fans, including British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, have been checking in with the TV show to see how Susan is.

TV producers said Susan was "exhausted and emotionally drained" and that they called the police after Susan acted strangely at her London hotel.

Anonymous sources told a British newspaper that Susan had caused "a bit of a stir" at the hotel. "She didn't look well - she looked lost, not all there," the sources said.

The TV company responsible for the show said Susan was under doctor's orders to take some time off.

"Following Saturday night's show, Susan is exhausted and emotionally drained," they said. "She has been seen by her private GP who supports her decision to take a few days out for rest and recovery. We offer her our ongoing support and wish her a speedy recovery."

Susan is alleged to have ran down a corridor shouting "I hate this show" after she was beaten by a dance troupe in the final.

Showbiz experts say there was a last-minute backlash after all the publicity surrounding her performances.

Judge Piers Morgan today said the defeat was the best thing that could have happened to her.
