After the terrible crimes committed and covered up by pedophile priests being in the news, one would think the judges would learn something about protecting human rights. I too, have noticed the lenial sentences that have been given out to violent criminals in Ireland. I hate to think there is so little justice for the victims of violent crimes there.

"The learned Judge saw something we did not see here". "the victim may have bee drunk or high...".Very judgemental statment. What's that have to do with anything? Rape is rape and the creep should be punished the same as any other person would be. Whenever I see an article here about a crime committed, the sentencing is very, very lenient.

What an awful blow to women. There is no excuse for this type of "sentence." What good will the money do her? None, in comparison with the harm done to her...physically at the time of the attack and mentally for the rest of her life. Shame on that judge!

A case of "money talks"? well then let me encourage all readers of this newspaper to start working hard and saving your coins and you too will have money. The learned Judge saw something we did not see here and that is why his sentence was cut down from 6 years. The victim may have been drunk or high on pot and or cocaine which does not excuse the man but allows for the victimization of a female. Why did she not have another female walking with her since it did occur late a tnight.

No surprise. This is Ireland where the old boys club does as it pleases, women are all deemed mentally ill by learned men on the bench of the court corporation. Money buys any judge in ireland

So the Irish courts are enabling violent rapists now? It certainly looks like it with sentences like this.
