Irish singer songwriter Sinead O’Connor has posted an open letter to Trayvon Martin’s family on her website. The controversial singer expressed her sympathy towards the Martin family whose teenage son was shot in Sanford, Florida by neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman, who claims he did so in self-defense.
O’Connor wrote: “I would like to extend my very deepest sympathies to the family and other loved ones of murdered teenager, Trayvon Martin. I am very sad today (and am certain the whole of Ireland is) to learn of poor Treyvon’s terrifying ordeal and horrified by the fact his known and named and admitted killer has not been arrested, despite the crime having taken place a month ago. This is a disgrace to the entire human race.”
On 26th February, the 17-year-old high school student was found dead in Sanford, Florida. Witnesses heard a scuffle, a cry for help and a gunshot. Zimmerman was found standing over his body with a handgun.
Martin was carrying no weapons, only a packet of Skittles and an iced tea. He had a bloody nose and a wound to the back of his head.
The police did not arrest Zimmerman, run a background test or test him for drink or drugs at the scene. Since the death of their son, the Martin family has being petitioning to have him arrested.
O’Connor has also set up a petition from her site. Other celebrities have also lent their voices to the Martin family’s campaign including Sean “P. Diddy” Combs, Spike Lee and members of the NBA’s Miami Heat.
In O’Connor’s letter, she wrote with conviction about the Martin case, denouncing racist reaction and wrote about Africa being the birthplace of civilization.
She said, “For those out there who believe black people to be less than pure royalty, let me inform you of a little known, but scientifically proven, many times over, FACT. Which after reading, you will hopefully feel both very stupid and very sorry. For you dishonor your own mothers and grandmothers.
EVERY human being on earth, no matter what their culture, creed, skin color, or nationality, shares one gene traceable back to one African woman. Scientists have named it ‘The Eve Gene’. This means ALL of us, even ridiculously stupid, ignorant, perverted, blaspheming racists are the descendants of one African woman.”
She continued evoking Jesus Christ and how black people have contributed to our society.

She wrote, “Go back to strong black musical guides who left you information in the 60s and 70s. when they were living through the civil rights struggle. Curtis Mayfield. The Impressions. Nina Simone, Mahalia Jackson. Sing back the Holy Spirit ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, as those artists did.
“Forget bling. Forget “Get Rich Or Die Trying”. That is an evil message. Evil my dears is only life backwards. Turn it the right way up. With music. The messages American black youth are being given through music are not about the spiritual and therefore strong and conquering but PEACEFUL making of YOUR country into the wonderful place it secretly is and can be.. BECAUSE OF YOU, and BY YOU!!
“You know not how you are adored, appreciated, valued, loved, cried for, smiled for, prayed for, all over the world. You know not how much inspiration and uplift-ment of heart you give to millions just by your presence on earth. These musical guides will give you self-esteem. When you have self-esteem you can achieve anything. You can stand in the street as many did yesterday and change your country peacefully and with song. Chant down Babylon as the Rastas say. Rastafari will also give you self esteem. Investigate it.”
On her site she also gives the details of a petition she has set up on Change.org via her, temporarily reinstated Twitter account. She said “Friends and enemies.. I have briefly re-joined twitter in order to send around thechange.org petition set up by Trayvon Martin's parents, asking for the killer of their child to be arrested…again may I extend my very deepest sympathies to Trayvon's loved ones.”

Last night the police released a video tape of the man who shot and killed a young man simply walking home in American. Not a bruise could be seen on him, not a drop of splattered blood on his clothes to indicate any fight to save his own life. Another witness has come forward stating the screams for help ended with the “shot” as previously reported by another in the complex. During the interview with this family the “lead investigator” told the witness he believed this child was a victim of bias and manslaughter and he was attempting to prove it. Zimmerman a neighborhood vigilante/ watchman and son of a judge pursed this kid with a 9 millimeter gun and shot him in chest.. dead. Instead of trying to blame Martin, or his hoodie for his own murder, why aren't people asking why this child’s sat in a morgue for three days as a John Doe before his parents were notified; even though his real name was on the police report from the fist day?The mortician stated there was not a bruise or cut knuckles or skinned knees on his body which would have been present in an extreme struggle. All facts are pointing in one clear direction..This kid was pursed, and "shot down" even when the police told Zimmerman not to follow. Why is Sinead O'Connor commenting on the legal system in a country that is not her own? I am an old criminal defense lawyer who has defended people whom "everyone knew was guilty". The story is NEVER as it seems. Usually it is somewhere in the middle of all of the posturing. We have recently learned that both parties had skirmishes with the law and had their defects. Leave our system alone Sinead. It is none of your business, and our constitution guarantees that we are innocent until the State proves us guilty with solid evidence beyond a reasonable doubt. We don't arrest people just because people like you demand it. Thank God.

The Obama reelect campaign, Obama 2012, is now selling hoodies that say, 'Obama 2012' on them. The Barack Obama reelection effort is exploiting the death of Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Florida, in order (obviously, here) to secure votes from African-Americans." Treyvon Martin was wearing such a hoodie and these hoodies are being worn at rallies in his memory. What about the WHITE boy who had gasoline poured on him by 2 black kids the other day screaming " you'll get what you deserve white boy"! Where was the news coverage on this boy. Why aren't all the white people screaming rascism regarding this case? It is ashame that this young man lost his life, but what really happened. And what about the baby that was shot in the head in a drive by shooting? Could that baby be Owebummers child? This entire process is disgusting and needs to stop until all the facts are in!!!

Zimmerman took a life,if he did it criminally, he should get life behind bars. Very easy to sit thousands of miles away and pass judgement. That being said, Sinead is using a tragedy to promote her own agenda. She should shut up until all the facts surrounding the case come out. She is acting like the "typical" loud mouth I know everything about your culture beter than you "American" that people on this site and many others rant about. Who the hell decided to arm rent a cops????? That is a recipe for disaster.....

President race baiter "if I had a son he would look like Trayvon" using this boys death for political capitol. I don't know why there was no arrest one month ago. I don't know if it was murder or self defense. I do know that the new black panthers have put out a bounty on zimmerman.(sounds like a lynching) I do know that eric holder dismissed all charges against the new black panthers after they were charged with voter intimidation. Politcal opinion aside, Its always tragic when life is ended, potential never met, I can't judge either person, I don't know the facts.

If anyone needs a text-book example of why no rational people trust one word from the agenda-driven major media, this article is a prime exemplar. From the headline ("murder" is a legal concept for a premeditated unlawful killing - Malone has tried and convicted Zimmerman before the evidence is weighed, before any trial), through many unfactual "facts," this is an article chock full of lies, innuendo, and half-truths. Unacceptable from a high-school newspaper, this is appalling from Irish Central. Does the budget not allow for fact-checkers and editors? Shame on Sinead, and shame on Irish Central.

Once again, the bizarre lifestyle and reasoning of Sinead hits the fan. There are links above on Ms. O'Connor's new album which has a sexual body part in it. The "Eve Gene" is true. The Middle East is greatly in Africa. The skin complexion of Christ was swarthy and on and on. However, this matter of Trayvion is more complex than a simplistic stalking incident. The picture is of a baby. He is 6 ft 3. Zimmerman was bloodied. The black culture is filled with thugs and murderers. The young man did not live in the area. He was staying with his father because he was suspended (again) for possible marijuana use as well as possessing stolen jewelry. Let's wait for the entire story before Ms. O'Connor sanctifies "Attila the Hun". By the way, unless the original Eve could clone herself, there had to be an Adam as well. "Eve and Oprah" just won't make it.

First off, let me say the killing of Trayvon Martin is very sad, and could have been prevented if George Zimmerman had obeyed the 911 operator when he told him to stop following Martin. Let me also point out that Zimmerman was found by the police with a broken nose, grass stains on his shirt, and a cut on the back of his head. This points to the fact that Zimmerman just may have fired his weapon in self-defense as he said. Since the shooting, everyone from Barack Obama to Jesse Jackson, to Al Sharpton, and now Sinead O’Connor have put their two cents in. Why? It was not because Trayvon was a black kid, as many of you think, it’s because Zimmerman has been reported to be a “WHITE MAN”, which is not completely true. George Zimmerman is part Hispanic and part White. The reason you hear so much about this is because the news reports it as a White on Black killing. Don’t believe me? Have you heard about Delric Waymon Miller, IV, or Ervin Jefferson, Jr.? No! You may never hear of them either, because they were both Black males killed by Black males. Miller was a 21 month-old baby killed when black gang members fired 35 AK47 rounds into his house one night two months ago. Jefferson was a Black male walking home in his apartment complex when he was shot by two black armed security guards – sound familiar? Has Obama or anyone else mentioned these two killings? All I am saying is let’s hear all the facts before we say arrest Zimmerman.

Imagine your teenage son leaves the house to buy some candy “skittles” and an ice tea and some “self appointed” community watchman pursues him and uses his private weapon to snuff the life out of a kid who was just going to buy some candy. As parents we have to realize this could be anyone’s child in a country that allows civilians to roam the streets with guns and their preconceived notions of who looks “ok” and who in their ‘eyes’ looks like a threat. Think to yourself, would you arm yourself and walk the streets at night looking for people? From the beginning this sad story reveals much of what is wrong with a country that allows a gun in every house as easy as a chicken in every pot. God help the parents and send them peace and strength in the coming years.
