Of course inbreeding is a factor, but you have to consider that ireland is an island nation with a small population and therefore a limited gene pool. Arkansas is a small state with similar problems although I am unsure as to how much tey care down there as to if marriage between family is intentional or not.

  I take back my previous statement. After reading her website blog and looking all through her website, I think the media gives us an unfair assessment of the woman. In her blog she says she writes candidly and raunchily about sex because it feels more sane and free to her than keeping things bottled up. She blames theocracy for the expected norms of sexual repression. I think she's valid in all that. And she says she feels suicidal when people put her down as "insane". I think it would make anybody suicidal to be belittled for doing what makes you feel happy and sane. As far as threatening to kill the Pope... does that surprise anyone? As far as "normal" behaviour is concerned, I thought that was normal behaviour for the Irish, to threaten to kill people they don't like if they ever set foot in Ireland. And here's a woman who ripped the Pope up on national television. Who's having trouble putting 2 2 together?

  We all say things in the heat of the moment,maybe even worse than what Sinead has said. I said before that I have heard some of the abused tell what happened to them, so so sick to mention, and they do not hide thier feelings either. When someone is raped it is horrific for the victim but may have happened just once, in these cases the victims suffered the abuse not just once but constantly for weeks months and even years, Sinead was one of the very few who were brave enough to speak out years ago, but did anyone believe her...no, people were blessing themselves and calling her the devil, a druggie, alco, mental case, she was none of these, she was telling the truth, and needs help now to try and deal with it, many of these people feel exactly as she does. I for one do not want this pope to set foot in Ireland, he sickened me when he put the blame on the children for enticing the good priests to break thier holy vows, now he is blaming the mothers, who is the sick one, the pope or Sinead?
