Has anyone read this bill? I had read an assement of this bill early on in this proposal, that this was just another back door amnesty for illegal Irish. Regardless, this bill should not pass. We do not need more immigrants competing with unemployed American workers. Is this a slippery slope. What other countries will demand the "same fair treatment" as this bill grants to the Irish. I speak as an American of Irish descent.

The article states that "Irish have been unfairly shut out by the immigration laws". I think this is a crock! And what this article does not state is citizens of Ireland who are illegally in ths U.S. would benefit from this bill. But even if that is not the case, the last thing we need is more unemployed Americans. Just at a time when the economic situation is slowly starting to improve, we don't need to import more workers. Are those Irish immigrants really willing to work for less than American citizens?

push it through all they like - reality is that an American employer will not be allowed to hire any irish man with an IT degree when there are 45,000 of American IT graduates looking for jobs in the country. Everyone knows that you cannot get a visa for a foreigner unless you prove you advertised the job within your city, state and nationally first - and there are 100's of Americans looking for these jobs so will be a hard one for any employer to prove he needs anyone from Ireland who has the same skills as a kid here! its all rubbish how they go about this!

As an Irish American who has been out of work for just over 2 years with 2 college degrees, I am not in favor of this bill right now, it is not the right time, I am older and still have student loans to pay back. IRE & the USA need to help small businesses and to create an opportunity for all to work for themselves, this is the only way to save the unemployment issues.

Just so YOU know seagreen the current head of Foreign Trade in the whitehouse is an O'Bamaa appointee. What was his (Jeffrey Immelt Former CEO Of G.E.)qualifications? During his two year tenure he shipped 159,000 GE jobs from America to overseas!Yeah that's who I want running our foreign trade!

The American no jobs card Huh... Well guess what! American young people do not give a crap about NAFTA or Ross Perot. They have been too busy paying taxes and spending time in the Army. So the Irish are the annointed ones right ! Canada wants them, Australia wants them, and they have euro passports that allow them to work in at least 20 countries. Of course its tough to compete with illegal Irish bartenders in Boston and New York that work for tips, and receive no wages. That must sound appealing to you.

And pilib04 National healthcare as proposed is potentially unconstitutional. Current Admin wants to mandate it for all,but has already given a pass to it's favored contributors.Remember this is the bill we were supposed to pass,THEN and only then was Nancy Pelosi gonna tell us what was in it-that ain't the America I grew up in and I damn well want no part of it.But of course you libs can't see the harm !

Maybe you should run this proposal past all of the American college grads that are $80,000 in debt, sent out resume after resume, and are finding out that a masters degree is necessary to make over $12 an hour. I am sure that they will be overjoyed to find they are now competing with Irish, Chinese, and Indians in their own country. Competing with people from the above countries that went through through college free of charge. So much for being born in the US. Oh yeah, I forgot, the Americans are allowed to vote.

Murph46, Grassley cannot be trusted. He abandoned national healthcare on a dime. He did an about face without so much as a by your leave. He negotiated the final bill and then abandoned it. Grassley IS NOT a man of his word. I would not trust the snake as far as I could throw him.
