With due respect, I disagree that it shows any entrepreneurial skill, Searlit. His billboard is a plea to be rescued. His very first words are "Save me...". Wrong message to a prospective employer. Still, there's no arguing with results, if indeed, he did land two job offers from it. But I would note hire him. If his billboard started with something like "High-achieving computer programmer will help your business grow!" it would be a different story.
Careful there Cathal....saying things like "Jobless Paddy" your not allowed to use Paddy, liberals get upset, oh hang on they only bitch depending who says it I guess.....
It shows he's willing to take a risk, for what he cares about. That is very important as an entrepreneurial skill. I wonder if he saw the Movie 'I Love You, Man'? Really funny! I loved it! Chalk one up for that Irish Paddie!
This might have worked for him, but I'd never hire someone whose focus was his need to be rescued. Instead, I'd be looking for someone who was focused on what he could do for my company, not what I could do for him. Clever as the billboard idea is, he is branding himself as a victim.
Agree, Cillowen - thinking "outside the box" is necessary - no more sending out mass c.v.'s to employers. Employers want to see who out there is proactive and intelligent and stands out from the crowd.
such creativity is what is needed - good on him and others who succeed in spite of the challenges they face.
