Rep Gabrielle Giffords to have first public interview with Diane Sawyer
Giffords & husband Mark Kelly sit down on ABC
Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and her astronaut husband Mark Kelly will be sitting down for a much anticipated interview with ABC’s Diane Sawyer. The promo for the interview, which will air on November 14th, pegs Giffords’ experience as the “most extraordinary story.”
Giffords made news in January when she miraculously survived a gunshot to the head while at an appearance in Tucson, Arizona, the state she represents in Congress. Six died during the attack, and left Giffords severely wounded.
Since the incident, Giffords has made several appearances, but has not conducted any sit-down interviews. Among her appearances were her surprise visit to Congress in August to cast her vote on the budget, as well as an appearance at husband Mark Kelly’s final mission to space.
Giffords’ memoir will be released at the same week her interview with Diane Sawyer will air.
