A Pakistani doctor working in Ireland says he may leave the country after being the victim of a racist attack.

Dr Syed Kamran Haider Bukhari, who was one of 100 doctors to be recruited by the Health Service Executive (HSE) in July 2011, told the Evening Herald about being punched and kicked by a female in a nightclub and being labeled a n****r.

The 32-year-old junior doctor was enjoying a night out recently when he was assaulted by a young female.

"A young girl who was clearly drunk approached me on the dance floor before shouting nasty names at me. She punched and slapped me but she was taken away by her friends who apologised.

"But then she came back. She was shouting racial expressions at me before punching and kicking me. I couldn't defend myself, it's not in my nature to [retaliate].

"I love this country. I work extremely hard and I have made so many friends and have had so many good experiences here,” he told the Evening Herald.

However, this is not the first instant of racial abuse the father has experienced since moving to Ireland.

"But this is not the first time I have been subject to racism. Somebody has to stand up and stay 'stop,'" he said.

"I don't know if I want to remain here any longer.

"I was going to bring my two daughters and wife over from Pakistan but why would I want to have them living among racism?

"I don't want them subjected to the type of attitudes and attacks that I've suffered from," he added.

The doctor, who works for the Louth-Meath Mental Health Services says that the nightclub staff were unhelpful when he told them about the incident, he said they: "laughed at me and made fun of me because I'm a psychiatric worker."

The immigrant said he intends to lodge a formal complaint with local police.

"I'm extremely upset to be honest. I've given every ounce of my energy to my job where I work with children and adolescents.

"The words used to describe me were nothing short of racism and I feel it is a really major problem in Ireland.

"But I am more upset at the response of the authorities and the night club itself. They are supposed to protect people.

"I don't want to make myself out as a victim but I do want to highlight that racism is at large here."

Irish people who behave this way and think this way should be ashamed of themselves. Remember how the brits treated the Irish? well, don't do it to other people. My grandmother always respected and had a fascination with Irish history and culture. She taught this to me. Irish people behaving racist is plain stupid.

Hi, Awoken. We Irish must preserve what is most important in our culture, which is its Christian heritage, being part of the family of Jesus Christ. In the age of internet, TV, Radio, etc., our island is no longer so isolated. So, will we be leaders or followers? BTW, I would like to know the sources for your Zionist elitists statements. Finally, you are prepared to believe in a higher being, a god or gods...that would seem to express some disappointment with Jesus Christ. What better description of a God is there than He who did not cling to his divine status, but emptied himself of all and came down to us. He knew we would reject Him, cast him out of our city and put Him on the cross but He went there to save us from our sins and offer us eternal life with Him and the Trinity. We do not have to earn salvation; we have only to "trust and obey." Where could you possibly find a better deal or a more loving, forgiving and generous deity? Best wishes.

Hi, Awoken. I have evangelized, one on one, in Muslim countries. Somehow, muslims are more open than our post-Christian western secular humanists. Please note that secular humanists (the modern term for atheists coined by Sir Julian Huxley; he was the grandson of Thomas Huxley who coined the word agnostic to soften the name atheist in his time) were responsible for more murders in the 20th century (under Mussolini, Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot and their minions) that in all previous history--including all religious wars. Secular humanism is a non-theistic cruel religion that deifies either man (nordic man, for Hitler) or the State. George, the Irish wont be losing our homeland by evangelizing--they have a very long tradition of doing this. Do have another look at the Gospel (God-spiel) of Jesus Christ. He loves you.

Back in 1968 (?) I was depressed when the Soviets invaded Czechoslovakia. I had been hoping that the Soviets could rise about their own self-imposed level of ignorance, seeing the advanced Socialist Czech experience. While I sat and pouted, Brother Andrew of Holland thanked God that the Russians had come half-way to his house (he had been declared "persona non grata" in the USSR for smuggling in Bibles), loaded up his old van with Russian language Bibles and went to Prague. While the Czechs were giving the Russian soldiers hate stares, Brother Andrew went up to them in their tanks, told them that Jesus loved them, and evangelized them. So... Irish Christians, thank God for the Pakistanis that came here where you can evangelize them in love and peace--how different from what happens in Muslim societies.
