READ MORE- Former President Clinton worries about Irish suicide numbers
Queen Elizabeth, U.S. President Barack Obama and now former president Bill Clinton will all visit Ireland towards the end of May.
The dates of the Obama trip were released today as May 23 to 28th with Poland added to the itinerary, which also features England, France and Ireland.
It will make for an historic week for Ireland with two American presidents and the Queen of England in town, which in turn will create a major security operation.
IrishCentral.com has learned that Bill Clinton will fly to Dublin on May 23, the day Obama is expected to arrive in Europe, where he will speak at a dinner to raise funds for suicide prevention at the Citywest Hotel in Dublin.
The former President accepted the invitation to address the event following an invitation by RehabCare supported by Nobel Peace Prize winner John Hume.
“It is an extraordinary coup for RehabCare, in developing its suicide prevention programme to have the support of Bill Clinton, one of the world’s truly iconic figures. He has already done so much for this island through his work and support for the peace process and his support to this project will be invaluable, ” said John Hume MP when he launched the fund raising drive .
Clinton addressed the issue of Irish suicide rates at our sister publication Irish America Magazine's Hall of Fame luncheon last week. He told the assembled crowd that he had lost one close Irish friend, developer Patrick Rocca, to suicide and feared that it had become a major issue there.

Mama - I did NOT vote for Obama... and I am glad I leave a few days before he arrives in Ireland!

The name Great Britain, is based on a geographnical term i.e. the biggest island in the British Isles. The word "Great" meaning large. When England and Scotland joined together to form one country (including Wales) it became known as the Kingdom of Great Britain. When Ireland joined it became the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland (now Northern Ireland)

Well, I guess it's time to announce that I too, and my family plus one, will be visiting Ireland the end of May as well. I was going to surprise y'all but figure now I better give you fair warning.

Will that be where Obama confronts England? I hope he has better sense than that. He should keep his mouth shut for a change. He is so busy alienating our allies he has nothing left to get rid of our enemies.

We need to get tourism going again. Remember we're broke, and we need as many visitors as possible. Glad Obama, Clinton are coming. The Queen, well, its been a long time I guess? Now as for the rest of us can ye ever lower the fares and 5 of us will be over in the summer. Won't be on Aer Lingus. $899 plus tax Ugh.

`Not really great Britan anymore.Scotland, Wales have their own governments now.` erm devolved assemblies for Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. A sort of federal system like the US has for its numerous States. United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland is still intact.

Micky74007-don't offend the memory of the three stooges that way.

londonirish: At the end of the day who cares, and as far as most people can tell she is the Queen of England. England is and was the dominant party in the so called arrangement. Also it is quite obnoxious to put great before the official name of your country. Oh and by the way I travel frequently to England on business, and all my friends and contacts over there refer to themselves as English, and many proudly wave their Cross of St George flag.

I had my plans b4 all these other turkeys. To Galway May5-12. I'm ahead of 'em, except maybe their advance agents. They probably don't care about Ireland's "jewel" anyhow.

What about Irish American Obama groupies?
CitizenWhy | Mar 22, 2011, 12:25 PM EDT
Don't you find all the Irish American Obama haters tiresome? And sour. They have gone right wing Republican because they think it raises their social status. They also feel cheated by life. If yoy see one, run the other way.

Everyone likes to gawk at big crashes.

nicgearailt | Mar 22, 2011, 11:52 AM EDT
This man was invited!! Anything that will get the Irish people talking openly about the national issue of suicide...why that is the best news of today or any day.. having lost a brother to suicide in 1983...this is very encouraging. It needs to be a national discussion... I hope those, whose comments are dismissive of this story, will reflect...they obviously have never been touched by suicide...hope they never have that experience...
micky74007 | Mar 22, 2011, 11:30 AM EDT
Who's next, the Three Stooges? Opps, they are the three stooges.
cillowen | Mar 22, 2011, 11:17 AM EDT
wanting attention - given the power of irishness - they all want a piece. go figure.
Irishlassred | Mar 22, 2011, 10:41 AM EDT
Slick Willie can wait - he's just hogging the spotlight, again. Obama is welcome but the Clueless Queen? She's what nearly 100 yrs. old and this is the first time she's dained to step foot in Ireland? After what the Crown did to the country of my grandparents? "Not welcome."
pjerhausc | Mar 22, 2011, 10:28 AM EDT
keep Clinton and Obama in the US
colkelley | Mar 22, 2011, 10:12 AM EDT
Great - now you have the Harmless Hat Lady, Obummer, and Slick (the "Hummer President") Willie coming to visit. I'd rather give Honorary Irish Citizenship to the Queen than to those two buffoons.
LinLinisme | Mar 22, 2011, 10:10 AM EDT
sorry Ireland. But you can keep O'b...... GOD BLESS THE QUEEN, Good for you President Clinton
DLW12183 | Mar 22, 2011, 09:32 AM EDT
TO LOYALCITIZEN---you are royally correct! Other than ruin Ireland for my next vacation I would say keep two of the three. Now that I think about it, I can't afford a vacation to Ireland anymore. Thank you OBAMA. Now he has us in another armed conflict. Cruise missles to support a no fly zone are free. I wonder about the US F-15 that crashed-I thought the others were doing the flying-did the French and Brits give up already? Now I hear that the Irish government thinks that the US will lend it money at lower rates of interest. It's a crazy world out there.
carrickcourt | Mar 22, 2011, 09:24 AM EDT
I know all of Ireland has been waiting to hear if I have scheduled a visit there this year. I know there have been major concerns in Ireland for my security with my anticipated arrival. I know the major concerns mostly deal with Irish drivers being alerted as to when I might be on the roads of Ireland and also ordering cars, vans, and buses off the narrow streets of small Irish towns so I do not scrap vehicles as I drive through small Irish towns. Ireland's security concerns with my possible visit there this year should not be a worry as I have decided not to visit Ireland this year.
Niamhaine | Mar 22, 2011, 09:17 AM EDT
Thank you, Jaysus, that I live on the west coast of Ireland, Beyond the Pale.... and beyond the insanity. Maybe Bill will hitch a ride with Obama on AirForce One to save some $$.
Freeman | Mar 21, 2011, 09:25 PM EDT
Not really great Britan anymore.Scotland, Wales have their own governments now.
jamieLM | Mar 21, 2011, 06:38 PM EDT
Better be careful Ireland, or Mommar Gadhafi will be wanting to visit so he can get in on all the action. He won't stay in anything but his own tent, so you won't even have to book him a hotel room. He'd bring his own security, too. Over in France, Sarkozy (sp)is probably in a snit that Obama, Clinton, and the Queen were invited and he wasn't. You know how the French are. Just kidding. LOL
londonirish1965 | Mar 21, 2011, 05:11 PM EDT
There has been no queen or king of England since 1707-she is the Queen of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Aye, it does feel a bit like Hitler coming over the polish border.
antoman | Mar 21, 2011, 04:14 PM EDT
We are going to have to put ballast on the west coast to prevent our island tipping over.A man won't be able to walk to shop for a litre of milk without bumping into Presidents and monarchs. Is there a man going to call to my door for the loose change down the back of my couch to fund this er extravagance?
LoyalCitizen | Mar 21, 2011, 03:08 PM EDT
We are royally screwed now.
