I think it is great that the young people are out demonstrating for their rights. In 1954 when I was a messenger boy we marched down O'Connel street with Dominic Behan and Mr. Birmingham. It was 12 o'clock noon and we sat on O'Connel's Bridge. People were going home for lunch at that time and I remember Dominic Behan saying: "Let the buses detour down Gardner Street and let them see how we live." At that time in most of the tenaments there were no bathrooms. We carried the blue flag the plough and the stars. The Dublin Stock Exchange is still there in Gardner street underneath the bridge. Most of us had to leave for U.S. at that time in order to get a job. At that time the national stud was after paying a million pounds for a horse called Tullier. This is the time for the young people to stand the same as James Connoly and Larkin led the labor movement in 1916 and 23. God Bless the young demonstrators in Dame Street.
