Prince William and Kate Middleton expected to visit Ireland after Enda Kenny invitation
Prime Minister says the Royals including Charles and Camilla are “very keen” to come to Ireland

Ireland’s leader Enda Kenny informally invited the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (aka Prince William and Kate Middleton) to visit Ireland last week when they were introduced at the pre-Olympic reception at Buckingham Palace.
Although the Irish Embassy in London must officially invite the royal couple before they can consider a trip it seems like likely that Prince William, who married last summer in the Irish Guards red uniform, will make a trip over.
It seems even more likely given Queen Elizabeth’s highly successful visit to Ireland last year and the recent historic meeting, and handshaking between Martin McGuinness and the Queen in Northern Ireland.
A spokesperson from Buckingham Palace told the Irish Independent “They get asked to travel to many places, but they would've been pleased with the invitation.”
Ireland’s Taoiseach (Prime Minister) Enda Kenny was introduced to William and Kate at the reception hosted by Queen Elizabeth.
Kenny told the Independent “They were very enthusiastic, and hope to get involved with some of our notable charities.”
The Fine Gael leader added that William’s father, Prince Charles, and Camilla, were also “very keen” to visit.
Since William and Kate were married in April 2011 they’ve visited several countries including Canada, the US and Denmark. This would be their first trip to Ireland.
When, and if, the Royal couple do decide to travel to Ireland, the visit would be announced only two weeks in advance.
Given their many prior committments to trips this year, including visits to Malaysia, Singapore and the Solomon Islands as part of the Queen's Jubilee year celebrations, it seems unlikely that the trip could be in 2012 .
Dickie Arbiter, a spokesman for Buckingham Palace, told 98FM news that he believed a trip to Ireland this year would be unlikely.
He said, “They would still have to have permission from the Government and time is very precious. They have the Olympics now. William is also working now as a search and rescue helicopter pilot. They’ve got a lot on their plate at the moment and the likelihood of them travelling anywhere other than what they’re already scheduled is very unlikely.”

Creaky your begrudgery is terrible.And you getting all those golden oldie freebies.Come on now Creaky the EU is one big family.It's all give and take.The krauts got their free lunch by having an undervalued currency.They made big bucks out of this Euro caper.That's as good as a bailout or money in the Bundesbank.We all know this Creaky.Look at all that Cork oil and gas and yummy fish we are giving away for nothing to Europe.That's how it works Creaky.Look at it this way Creaky it's a lot better to be vastly overpaid than vastly underpaid.Anyway Creaky it's all just the ebb and flow of the economy.As for the Brits working.They are swinging the lead I think.My Brit investments aren't returning half enough.

Curpeter, given the almost and unusually intelligent and amusing tone of your splutter @10.34, I have to be fair and admit I snorted at 'Londonistan' - very good! Of course there are area's which are almost dominated by incomers and their descendants, and they are generally very welcome and contribute greatly to the healthily mixed society.Btw: immigrants of make up only 3% of the 60 million current population of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, so there is no trouble finding a spot in the Shires, old chap! Yeah, Britain might be under pressure at the moment,but it's far from 'broken'. It will no doubt get out of the difficulty by pulling together and working hard first - before rolling over like mad dog Ireland and begging for a bailout from countries where the population works and pay their taxes properly! Despite the Bailout, the place will still slide further down the pan until the State and Population realise thet are living in a cloud cuckoo land of vastly overpaid Farm Subsidies, Salaries,Pensions and Social Welfare Payments. Britain works for it's own living - Ireland should try it one day! Slainte!

Our current Taoiseach Ó Cíonnaith/Kenny seems to have lost the run of himself. Throwing royal invitations around like snuff at a wake, while the already overburdened Irish taxpayer are paying off the debt for last years' shin dig. Could be 90 years before we can cater for Will (Liam) and Kate (Cáit). Since Gran insisted he wear Irish Guards uniform for his wedding (King Willian IV - of Scarlet?), perhaps Her pleasure is for a nullification of the constitutional seperation/divorce between Britain and Ireland. Her visit to the greater part of Ireland was also described as accessing a room which She had been locked out of for so long. Only a room - in a four roomed palace? And Her Christmas address, on the importance of 'family', after Her "partnership of equals" reference in Her Dublin Castle Queen's speech to "A Úachtaran agus a Cháirde[/Mme President and Friends]". Still, if all this entente cordiale is necessary to calm the besieged Ulstermen, so be it. Could handle a Commonwealth much more than realm. And if the school teacher plays his cards right, he might be the first Taoiseach in Anglo-Irish history to receive a peerage. Arise Lord Mayo.

I meant to just say GFA.Unrealist there was a Unionist problem for the Brits since 1910 when the Ulster Unionist Council formed a secret committee to oversee the creation of an army in Ulster to fight against the imposition of Home Rule.The Brits NEVER wanted to partition Ireland.They knew it was going to be useless to them economically due to disunity in NI.It's about economics and control.It's always about economics and control.Partition was all about economics and control.The EU is also about sharing economics and control and closer integration.Are you getting the picture yet? Power sharing was the key.That's what 1910 was all about.Unionists holding on to all the power.The true reality is partition has failed,the Unionists have lost what they had,the Republicans have gained and still NI continued to fail economically as a viable entity.That won't be allowed to go on indefinitely by the UK,Ireland and the EU.Reunification is the viable economic option to the UK,Ireland and the EU.So who is the problem?

I have no problem with the royals coming to visit Ireland. I do have a problem if the Taoiseach fawns all over them, as Mr. Bruton did some years back when Charles visited. He told Charles that he was what all Irish people aspired to!!! In a word that was disgusting!!

Unrealist..LOL.Of course I'm concerned for their safety in Ireland.But only on a political level.As a supporter of the GFA/Reunification Process.It is paramount that nothing happens to cause strained relations between our two countries when all is going so well.There are some risks to their well being in Ireland.They haven't all gone away you know.You see you are getting it all wrong as usual.Lizzy "the hun" Saxe-Coburg and Gotha can rot in hell as well as her bloodsucking dysfunctional family.I still agree with that.Still we can hope something will happen to Willie and Katey so they can't come over.I'd say just about now the Royal family relationship dysfunction is starting to set in.Katey just might push Willie down some stairs accidentally on purpose hitting Charlie and Camel like a bowling ball and they all end up in hospital and save the Irish authorities the headache of watching out for their safety.As for Mountbatten's Imperial ass he's just particles of crab sh*t now.lol

Abhainn, most Americans havent got a clue about anything to do with ireland except years ago some people starved, emigrated or did just fine or they still think the Irish and the Brits are involved in some sort of bizarre war. But youd be one of them seeing as youre not Irish yourself.
