abhainn; wouldn't it save all this tortured tautology if the Irish got a 'tidder o' sense' and only used the Irish terms for the parliament and officials, when speaking or writing in Irish. As the adopted English language is generally and reasonably well-spoken throughout the Island and Internationally understood,that will do nicely. It will be a clear indication that Ireland is getting serious about taking "its place among the nations of the earth" when it stops all this diddle-i-eye cod-ology nonsense. Note also that their bailout begging is always done in English - not Irish!

There is only one taoiseach in the world so it is a tautology (a type of style fault) to write "Ireland's Taoiseach". Furthermore, it is unnecessary to add "Prime Minister" as readers of this organ are Irish Americans and Irish people who already know what a taoiseach is.
