President Obama impersonator helps souvenir book in Moneygall - VIDEO

To help celebrate the 4th of July and to launch Moneygall, County Offaly's memorial souvenir book of Obama's visit to Ireland Henry Healy along with the authors of the book brought in President Obama impersonator Aaron Heffernan.

Reenacting the President's visit on May 23, Heffernan touched on the GAA fields outside Moneygall in a helicopter on the afternoon of July 4th to celebrate the American holiday with the town.

Upon greeting the crowds Heffernan joked "Myself and my team are delighted to be so cordially invited back home once again, for a second round of kissing hands and shaking babies."

According to Henry Healy, the eight cousin of President Obama, and resident of Moneygall, "The idea behind Mr Heffernan’s appearance is to allow the entire parish – and particularly those who missed Mr Obama on May 23 – to get photographs with the next best thing."

The event also launched the souvenir book "Is Féidir Linn – A Golden Ticket to Moneygall". The book was compiled by Irish Independent journalist Eimear Ní Bhraonain and photographer Jeff Harvey, who are now honorary villagers because of their efforts to promote the community on a world stage.

It seems that Moneygall has also left its mark on President Obama and Michelle Obama. The couple sent Healy, affectionately known as "Henry the Eight" a leather-bound notebook this week.

Speaking to the Herald, Healy said "The embassy staff brought it down to me last week. I'll be keeping it and I won't be writing in it. I still even have the wrapping paper it came in and it's something I'll treasure for many years to come."

Publican Ollie Hayes, where President Obama enjoyed a pint of Guinness with his wife, were given two silver goblets along with gold cuff-links.
