Northern Irish First Minister Peter Robinson said recently that if re-elected, US President Barack Obama will pay a visit to Northern Ireland.
“He was given an invitation to come to Northern Ireland — and I'd be pretty sure that, if he's successful in November, we'll get him in the next term,” First Minister Robinson told the Belfast Telegraph.
Robinson spoke of the possible visit after he and Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness met the US President in the White House yesterday. According to Robinson, Obama displayed both a high interest and knowledge in Northern Ireland and its peace process.
Martin McGuinness added that “I think he [Obama] recognizes that every now and again there will be isolated outrages, but that the strength of the process is now unbreakable.”
Robinson and McGuinness met with Obama during their two-day tour of Washington, DC.

Will Peadar Mhic Robin (phon. Padder Vic Robean)/Peter Robinson be joining him in Stormont grounds for a spot of hurling. Will Martin be lending him his caman (p. come on) (hurley stick) and sliotar (p. shleet-tar) (i.e. ball). I believe Peter won the Clontibret puc fada championship in his youth. Good man Peadar! Tiocfaidh ar puc fada!

Love the photo choice IC. Obama about to indulge in a little 'punishment beating' up the Falls or down the Shankill. The serious hoods always put nails through their hurls though; just to drive the point home!

Capitalism vs. statism. That is what is at the core of the argument. What happens when the individuals rights have been stripped away, the courts corrupted, the state as your family? Talk to people who have escaped societies like these to realize the horrors invoked by statists. Does anyone remember. Stalin. Mao. Il.

do you think we can get them to keep him?

@CanesBoy, SAVED the auto industry? The corporations maybe, the workers no. The bailouts the automakers received paid for them to build plants in other countries. Have you seen Detroit? It looks like a third world country! They tried paying people to move there, but hardly anyone took them up on it. They are tearing down homes because they are in disrepair and such eyesores. They are only running one shift at the auto plants that used to run THREE! If Obama is reelected, Heaven forbid, you will not recognize the US.

As an American, I follow the president and his policies daily. I read some of the comments here from the wingnuts and have to laugh. I thank God that Obama is in the White House. Considering the crap he had to walk into and what he has done to turn it around is nothing short of amazing. He saved the US Auto Industry while the republicans wanted it to go bankrupt. Now General Motors is more profitable than ever and the industry added over 200,000 jobs in the past 2 yrs. Someone mentioned he was the worst prez ever. Good Gawd, that would have to be Bushy from the prev administration. Obama/Biden 2012 Yes, he will win another term!

To Meanoldgrouch, Don't let the door hit you on the behind as you leave. Typical liberal you don't have anything of substance to say so you resort to personal insults.

sigh... what a bunch of hysterical ninnies you are. Running around screeching, "Obama is coming! Obama is coming!" Just like the sky is falling. Well, dig in deep, children. We're in the universe to stay. Our beautiful rainbow president enjoys the support of decent people everywhere. The kind that chatter like chimps and fling their own waste at visitors, well - I think I'll stick with company that walks upright. You're a hopeless waste of time in here, most of you. But I've been offered chairmanship of a liberal booster group, and they deserve my time more than the peanut gallery. From time to time I might want a brief walk among the wildlife, so as one Republican told you, "Don't get too comfortable." I certainly won't be able to resist poking my head back in here in November to listen to you weep and wail and gnash your teeth. See you then. I'm going to close out my other threads and take off pretty soon. To all the good libs I met on IC, please don't forget me. I've been honored to know you.

Our beautiful America, land of the free and home of the brave. "Skinny Barry" and "Michelle the so called gardener" could care less. I would bet my life that he and his wife, who is really not proud to be an American, unless she and he are spending our money, laughs at the Irish. Anyone that would vote for this thing that crawled out from under a rock is totally ignorant to all the facts regarding this fraud that conducts his Marxist politics from our White House. IRELAND BEWARE, he is no friend of yours! He would sell his white Grandmother for a vote!!

I cringe when I hear of Obama sucking up to the Irish just so that he can get our votes in November. My relatives in N. I. don't quite get what a terrible President he is. The liberal news media have covered up who his friends are. He has had his records sealed so that we can't find out any information about his radical past. Why would he do that. Could it be he is not all he says he is. If he doesn't have anything to hide he should open his records just like the rest of us would have to do if we were running for President. I hope I am not in N.I. if and when he decides to visit. I will not vote for Obama.

AND .....BHO (being British) can stay there.
mcirv44 | Mar 22, 2012, 11:16 AM EDT
It shows how interested he is of visiting Ireland as he will visit if he is reelected. What, he doesn't want to go on his own dime? How cheap and uninteresting he is. I don't think you will have to worry about seeing him again in Ireland as he won't be reelected.

Don;t hold your breath NI,his refusal to create an effective energy policy, and push gas prices up,stop pipelines and have an energy czar who doesn't even own an automobile are prima facia evidence that he hasn't a clue. And I haven't mentioned the 11% unemployment in areas.I know all you libs (and he) are still blaming things on Bush, but it just doesn't hold water.
sgbradey | Mar 22, 2012, 09:49 AM EDT
obama isn't the great person you think he is...our country is in horrible shape while he goes on numerous vacations, eats lavish dinners and goes to lavish parties...and it is a smack in the face to Irish-Americans like myself when he claims to be Irish as well...HE IS THE WORST PRESIDENT EVER!!!
