Remember it was the roman church and roman pope that originally signed the papers to invade Ireland all those years ago (the papal bull) to punish the liberal Irish church and the liberal Irish people, and through those 800 hundred years helped all invaders to oppress us and keep us in place
God be with the day that we kick out rome and reestablish the true Irish Christian faith, principals and beliefs that once made us the great missionaries we once were, before the roman invader came, and I pray that all these rednecks who post their conservative backward drivel on this site stay in America and Australia where they belong, and never set foot in Ireland again. Remember Christ was a liberal

Mairint: "Pride and depravity?" Sounds like the Vatican to me. The Vatican is like Mexico during the dictatorship of Porfirio Diaz (1830-1915). The saying was: "Wherever you stick your finger, the pus comes out." Depravity indeed! GO IRISH CENTRAL!

@mairint - No, regrettably, you haven't convinced me. You can dream on if you so choose. However if it God's will (as I believe) that time has been called on part of his earthly church, then there is nothing that anyone can do or say to stop that from happening. If you take the trouble to read from my earlier post, you will see that I quote from the writings of Pio, a saint of our (yours and mine) church; a stigmatist and generally accepted by all to have been marked by God. As far back as 1913, I believe that our Lord sought to convey through Saint Pio, displeasure at the way that many (though not all) of his ministers were behaving. If you consider his words in the context of what has happened in the church around the world, they are prophetic in nature. Though, I detect that you would choose to ignore the writings of this holy man, who was canonised in 2002 by Blessed John Paul II himself. So what are we to make of this warning? Ignore or dismiss it? We cannot, for this is God our Saviour speaking to us, and we cannot ignore that. Of course I could be wrong, however, I do not believe that I am.

sure they have protested before (and I too do not believe the "800" - it is easy to bluff)and yet the Church founded by Christ continues on, and will continue, with lots dropping away. However, they have to account for themselves eventually, especially clergy who have led the pew sitters astray with their pride, depravity and disobedience. The Church will prevail and we thank God for the saintly and brilliant Pope Benedict XVI and the growing numbers of faithful. Here in Australia our Church was overflowing from Holy Thurs. through to the Sat. night Vigil. Mostly young people, and all that for the Traditional ceremonies with all the 'bells and smells' and proper vestments. Even Sat. morn. a big troop of young people turned up to polish the brass, scrape the wax from floors, arrange flowers and prepare for the Risen Lord. So you lads with your ignorant spite and hate in your comments here (how come IrishCentral lets that through?), you are the dying lot. Not the Church.

Fu*k the catholic church, burn it to the ground. Priests are only powerful if you let them be and why would you let them be, they're nothing.

One of the first things Pope Benedict said on his accession was that he foresaw the Catholic church as becoming much smaller but much more faithful. We do not need lukewarm Catholics who pander to every whim of modern society. Let them go and leave the faith to true Catholics who re prepared to walk the narrow path and follow Church teaching.

There is one thing that all bishops, cardinals and popes have understood down throughout the ages. Deny them the money and suddenly they will change their tune tout de suite.

Great move by the Association of Irish Priests. They put the ball back in Ratzinger's corner. How dare he threaten an Inquisition. I still think that we need an explanation of his association with the Hitler Youth besides simply "that everyone was doing it back then." Also, his involvement with hiding priest rapists has never been explained away.

What an absurd article. The Catholic church will never advocate artificial contraception, women priests or (this is surely on the way for these dissident priests) gay marriage. Why don't they simply leave the church and join the Church of Ireland?

Our Blessed Mother said “In the end My Immaculate Heart will Triumph”
Pope Benedict has good strong bishops and priests in the Society of Saint Pius X, ready and waiting to restore the Church to its former glory! The 40 years wandering in the desert is nearly over. Amen.

The institutional catholic church at the vatican is in full panic mode. This event combined with all previous cover-ups, lies, pay offs, Bernard Law, the trial in Philly, the pending trial in KC and all the other litter caused by the arrogance and hypocrisy of the hierarchy are the reasons. They would have you believe they are the leaders of a legitimate church. They do not. They have lost that gift, have zero credibility and in no way reflect the basic message Jesus left all of us with; men, women, everybody without exception. LOVE. Always follow the money trail. The days of pay, pray and obey are over.

I don't believe Ratzinger is Jesus's successor. Maybe Emperoro Palpatine's, but not Jesus.
