Britain and France were colonial powers and the people living in these colonies regardless of their religious beliefs had the right of citizenship and now that these countries are part of the EU they now also have rights to settle in any European country.Enoch Powell may well have wrung his hands in consternation of uncontrolled migration. He was also an Imperialist who condoned "empire" and therefore an unwitting supporter of Migration. "Ye shall reap what you sow" Mr.Powell. He(Powell)was a racist and a supporter of orange bigotry.

Seanomelb ,I can assure you that I have been in Ireland ,and furthermore do not want any fanatical Muslims in Ireland .You seem to have a problem if people speak direct truths and stop talking bullshit .My reference to Enoch Powell was in the context of him forseeing the consequence of uncontrolled immigration in to ENGLAND ,and how right he was ! Why listen to foolish "liberals " now ,and later try to correct the mistakes ?

Just read on my recent trip that a Castlebar councillor wants to reserve a special burial place for the Muslims in the local cemetery. Then I read that they are marching on Google Headquarters in Dublin to protest the right to free speech and now they want to build an $84million Muslim center in Dublin what's next Sharia law. Muslims are a cancer on our western way of life as reported in many of the Blogs see what is happening in France, Holland and many other European. Countries as well as certain cities in America , Australia , and Canada. Ireland has a chance to make a statement and stop this project.

Islam is a cancer-look at any country where Muslims have large numbers and you have a lot of trouble! Muslims are not happy in any of their middle east regions and then come to Europe and the west for a better life only to try and change it back to the same type of life they left!
Don't give them an inch and punish any politician that caters to them! Your way of life is at stake!

Just wait. This is merely a 'toe hold'. Look to Holland and France and see what happened there.

Post pulled) canadianirish I never stated that "extremist elements pose no threat" I was referring to the other 299,982 Muslims but to be fair on re-reading your post I was a little harsh in my judgment and do apologise.

I did not state that extremist elements should not be "dealt with". On re-reading your post I believe my retort was to harsh and unfair.

@seanomelb - Nowhere did I intimate that 18 fools make a religion. Indeed in my third sentence I write: "While most seem to be peaceful, law abiding citizens, it is the extremist element that should concern you". Welcome to 2012 and the new normal. To suggest that these extremist elements pose no threat whatsoever is sheer folly. And as far as Melbourne being the most ethnically diverse city in the world, I beg to differ. You accuse me and others of engaging in "hate speech". I take issue with your accusation. I'm writing of MY experience as a Canadian living in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and will continue to condemn the actions of Muslim extremists. I stand by my post.

Muslims have no chance of getting Irish women to accept Sharia law because we're too independent and opionated and of course too goodlooking. We're too used to getting our own way. As I stated previously, the Department of Education needs to give permission for a school to open and Gerry Gannon and his friends are too broke. We have two mosques in Dublin already and it has not changed things.

The Fitzgeralds and the Geraldines, as well as the O'Neills and the O'Donnells, fought for religious freedom (not religious supremacy) in Ireland but this is "over the top"...they fought to defend cultural integrity...has Ireland's cultural integrity become "Who will invest?" and "How much...?"

(…more) There is much wakening up going on and still to be in be done in Saudi Arabia, apart from the fact that Islam is a false religion, in that before Islam was invented, Christians and Jews lived amicably side-by-side in that heat-scorched barren desert land. I am one of the proofs that Christianity is alive and well in Saudi Arabia.: I was one of many few who were privileged to have had Holy Communion with the Living Body of Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist, delivered under guise of an anonymous brave Holy Communion deliverer’s passport of one (St. Joseph the) car painter (enjoy the joke, but true on the trade name and delivery of the Holy Host) to me, to my late wife, to my baptised children and not a few others of my Catholic friends in that country. I am quite sure that other Catholics and Christians in SA will be equally privileged to be looked after by the Bishop of Saudi Arabia (no, he doesn’t live in SA but he does, like Christ, look after his lambs, both of included-in or of out-lost flock, from far away). I thank God he does keep plugging away for us lambs, keeping our *ahem* spirits firmly on the upward belief, an undeafeatable task for all God-knockers.
