Having abused young boys for over 30 years Father Eugene Greene had become so cocky that he lodged a complaint with the police when one of his victims attempted to blackmail him.
On December 20, 1997, Greene went to the police to make a complaint about the blackmail. After two years of investigations by local detectives Greene faced 115 charges relating to the buggery, gross indecency and indecent assault of 26 boys.
Green pleaded guilty to 40 of the charges. The only evidence of the crimes was the words of his victims who came forward.

The pedophile, having abused children since the 1960s, believed that he could lodge a complaint with the police and no investigation would take place. The Donegal diocese of Raphoe holds no records of the many allegations, going back three decades, and complaints made by children’s parents.
According to reports in the Irish Independent Greene groomed his victims from the age of eight. He would offer the small boys alcohol and cigarettes. Sometimes he would take them out to cut turf on the bog and allow them to drive his car on the way back to the parochial house.
One victim told the police “It was worse than hell. I felt so alone. I had nobody to turn to. I did want to tell my own dad but I said to myself if I told them they would say 'No, the priest can never do that'."
Greene served his 12 years in prison and was released on December 8, 2008.
The victims were enraged when they discovered that former parishioners and supporters of Greene had raised $71,000 (€50,000) for the priest. The Voices of the Faithful group said the size of the donations illustrate the “most serious state of denial of the most horrific crimes in Donegal”.

God the Holy Spirit wrote about these things in HIS WORD long before there ever was a pope . . Continued***The city indisputably is Rome. The name upon the harlot’s brow is “mystery” (v 5). She cannot be heathen Rome of which there was no mystery because her character was never concealed. “Christian” Rome, however, is a mystery, for she is not what she appears. Babylon, in the book of Revelation, is a city and a harlot. Jerusalem, in the same book, is a city and a bride. Babylon is the fraudulent lover of earthly kings; Jerusalem, the chaste bride of the King of Kings. The contrast is between the faithful Church and the Apostate Church. Chapter Seventeen thus describes in detail the character of the Apostate Church."***Chapter 18 of the Book of Revelation describes in detail the plagues / judgment of the Lord God that come upon the great whore! ***In Revelation 18, verse 4, Christ gives His people an unambiguous command:". . . . Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues."***Source: Berean Beacon***Article: Richard Bennett is a Biblical Apologist and former Roman Catholic priest Richard Bennett is a Biblical Apologist and former Roman Catholic priest

God the Holy Spirit wrote about these things long before there ever was a pope as Richard Bennett explains in his timely article 'The Perilous Fondness for the Papacy' God the Holy Spirit wrote about these things long before there ever was a pope***Overview of the Apostate Church***"The Holy Spirit in Revelation Chapter Seventeen vividly depicts the features of the Apostate Church. It is done in graphically precise detail. The Apostle John beheld the ten-horned beast carrying a woman dressed in purple and scarlet, decked with gold, precious stones, and pearls, a harlot, and the mother of harlots and abominations. She is the paramour of kings, merciless, cruel, intoxicated with the blood of the saints and of the martyrs of Christ Jesus. These symbols are brilliantly portrayed. “The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth” (v 9).This the Holy Spirit clarifies by proclaiming, “the woman which thou sawest is that great city which reigneth over the kings of the earth” (v 18)

PLEASE, for a complete explanation of why Christs' Church is so corrupted, search and read the FULL version of the ALTA VENDITA. The Pope authenticated this and warned us hundreds of years ago about this infiltration. We've slept on our watch in protecting His Church.

I remember reading about Greene, money was being collected before he was sentenced, stories were just getting out then about the priests and abuse. It was so hard to believe. Nyreader the parents are suffering enough without your stupid slander on them...

we need to give retribution where its due!! these catholic priests are abusing their power and not only brining down the catholic church but detroying innocent lives in the process. 12 years isn't justice and the church needs to stop protecting these scum!! these men should burn for what theyve done!

nytreader, that's the certitude of their ill gained credibility, it's gaul enough they listen to confesions then professing the validity of the seal, with encouragement from their bishops and superiors. It's just an institutional telegraph.

Why would anyone bring their children into the catholic church? They must be abusing their children at home also.
timbobdennehy | Aug 12, 2011, 07:40 PM EDT
it will be ok God always forgives the perpetrator for his sins, how about the victim he will probably be damned to hell,if you believe in that kinda thing.dont you have to repent your sins first though.if i was god i would be thinking that the priests are besmirching my good name,to hell with them.

CATHOLICABUSESURVIVORSNI.COM----when the godman walked on the earth 2000 years ago,his greatest condemnation was for the pharisee's and hypocrites of the day, just like the catholic parents who rebuked their children from exposing the paedophile priestcraft and collected money for father eugene greene a piece of innner guts of a sewer slug as those fools believe he and his sandstone manmade unbiblical religion, will get them into paradise its not in the book!! fools eternity where?

More proof that Catholics support the pedophile and not the child.

Who are these wackjob "faithful" who would raise 50 thousand Euro's for a convicted child rapist?
hybernia | Aug 12, 2011, 01:31 PM EDT
When the church, which holds itself up as the moral judge speaking with the authority of God gets caught diddling the young boys and hanging out at gay sex bars, it calls into question whether the priests themselves actually believe the myths they peddle to the sheep. Or that God does not exist and you have all been played for total fools by the world's oldest ongoing fraud.

At the time Canon Law stated 'that if threatened with blackmail, no matter the cause, report it immediately to civil authorities. Any transgression on your part will, however, not need to be reported, and if known, civil law holds no quarter'. [my best translation of the Latin]

This predator priest needs to be kept far away from kids forever. He is dangerous.
themurphia | Aug 12, 2011, 12:25 PM EDT
I know the cheek of the victim...why wasn't he out burning and looting and whingeing that nobody understood him and he wouldn't get no respect from the police....?
hyattsville | Aug 12, 2011, 12:14 PM EDT
And why wouldn’t the victim attempt to blackmail in 1997? Was anybody brave enough to go to the authorities then, to be humiliated, disbelieved and dismissed? There are so many adults at fault here for failing Irish children. Given that what’s done is done and cannot be undone let’s at least learn by past errors and sins and move forward, save of course for the foolish fan club of Greene welcoming him home with a nest egg. Those loyal parishioners should also be banned from unsupervised contact with minors.

12 years of incarceration? Hardly enough for this devious man of the cloth who abused children for decades. Place in a wet bog wrapped in his black robes with a pieces of turf firmly imbedded in a variety of locations, photograph that and send it to each parish and the Vatican.

Well not to be a spoil sport or to legitimize this pervert's past, but if one of his victims did try to blackmail him...what's up with that???? If it's the victims' aim to bring these creeps to justice and they were so wounded as a result of the crimes perpetuated on them, blackmailing the perpetuators should not even be in their plausibility structures. Does that make sense or is it just me?
hyattsville | Aug 12, 2011, 10:43 AM EDT
Repulsive creature, and the aggressive fundraising for his future really and truly beggars belief. A sorry reflection on the intelligence of that segment of the population, their lack of empathy for the children that he ruined, and their take on the actual teachings of the church. My father went to boarding school with this pedophile and wondered Greene had been sexually abused by priests while there, surely such behaviour isn’t instinctive.

It doesn't surprise me. Art linkletter said, "chilren say the funniest things, Barnum & Baily said, "there's a sucker born every minute," now you can add my saying, "Catholics are just sucker's and that is really sad."
