Pat Buchanan shocks with sexist remarks on female US president

Irish American pundit says he was joking when he said he hoped there would be no women in the Oval Office until 2040 or 2050

Speaking on Sunday’s “McLaughlin Group,” Irish American Pat Buchanan raised some eyebrows saying he hoped no women would be elected president until at least 2040.

Host John McLaughlin frankly asked the panelists to “cut to the chase” and tell him when they believed the United States would elect a president.

Buchanan said “2040 or 2050”.

"That late?" McLaughlin asked.

"Let's hope so," Buchanan said.

The other panelists, including Newsweek’s Eleanor Clift, laughed nervously.
Clift asked, “What about Hillary Clinton in 2016?"

Buchanan later said his “2040 or 2050” comment had been a joke but he maintained it would be a long time before there was a female politician elected as President of the United States.

The Inquistr looked back at some of his previous comments on women in the arena of business and politics. In a 1983 column he wrote, “Women are simply not endowed by nature with the same measures of single-minded ambition and the will to succeed in the fiercely competitive world of Western capitalism, women deserve an equal chance at the starting line. But, for women, there is an honorable and honored exit from the rat race – home, hearth and family”

In his book “Right from the Beginning” (1998) he wrote, “Real liberators of American women were not feminist noisemakers; they were the automobile, the supermarket, the shopping center, the dishwasher, the washer-dryer, the freezer, the garbage disposal and frozen food.”
So basically there’s no change there then.

Earlier this year, Buchanan was dropped as a conservative commentator by MSNBC after the release of his book “Suicide of a Superpower”. His book was widely regarded as racist, anti-Semitic, and homophobic, reported the Huffington Post. Buchanan denies this despite chapter titles such as The End of White America" and "The Death of Christian America".

Ephaim I wouldn't think someone working for the obama election team would bring up Nixon, with all the Executive orders being sent by the imperial Obama.
right on dude, they should,nt be allowed to fly planes either, scary stuff,a female p;ilot with pmt."YOU are cleared to land on runway 9"."feck off","i,l land where i feckin like".
Buchanan, Rumsfeld and Cheney - The Ghosts of Nixon past are haunting GOP-Scrooge still.
Why does anyone pay this hubristic, pompous ape in a suit any mind? He is just another soldier in a cadre of haters who are doing more damage to the fabric of the United States than anything else.
I'll try posting again!! As my old mum use to say "you can put a mink on a hog but you still have a pig in a fur coat and what can you expect from a pig but a grunt". Sadly Roberts represents mainstream republicans.

@Maggie47 - If the current comment has no "Byline" when you post your comment next, the software steals your byline and gives it to the deficient one before yours as well. I have been told that the deficiency happens when some people comment without being logged in. I'm not sure how they can do that as I can't.
People still pay attention to what this neanderthal idiot thinks, says, or does? Why? He's proven consistently that he has neither moral standing nor intellectual capacity, in the slightest. He just has ideology and childish obnoxiousness to spare.
Yes, it was a joke to Pat, but jokes have long been used to demean people that we are predjudiced against. Pat is clearly a sexist, always has been and probably always will be.
Confused as to what was previously described as HRC's "questionable personal lifestyle". Did the poster actually mean that of Sarah Palin's? In any case, there are many who wish the Dem Super Delegates in the summer of 2008 made the call for Clinton rather than Obama, but that is how it goes when you have to decide who should run on your ticket.
Pats trying to get back on the big stage.
What's going on here? we have two Maggie47.
It's all opinion and shock value. It would appear that Romney is poised to put a woman on the ticket. Hillary and her questionable personal lifestyle put her to the left of Obama. She is very talented and aggressive. However, she is Obama's eyes and ears in the reform of the Middle East into a feminist type of Islam. What!
I like Pat Buchanan personally, but strongly disagree with him on a woman being elected POTUS. Hillary Clinton came close and I predict one of the major parties will select a winning female candidate within the next 16 years.
Patrick Buchanan is not irish american he is scotish american. His words not mine
