New Northern Ireland secretary, Owen Paterson, has asked that the Bloody Sunday Report to be published as soon as possible.

It has been reported that the final version of the report has been printed. The families of the 1972 massacre in Derry will be the first to see the report later this month.

Paterson said it is “"in the interest of the families of victims and the families of the soldiers" to have the report published as quickly as possible. He announced this in front of the first Conservative-Liberal Democrat cabinet in London today.

He also announced that he has been in discussions with Irish Foreign Minsiter, Micheal Martine. The Tory party wishes to reassure the Irish government that the new leadership means to remain committed to power sharing and international treaties between Britain and Ireland.

Later today Paterson will travel to Belfast where he will attend meetings with leaders of the main political parties.
