Wilde's novel, "Dorian Gray" was considered a classic, but the Dublin writer is also known for his homosexual relationship for which he was convicted of "gross indecentcy" in the 1890s. While in Reading Jail he wrote a poem that includes lines like these" "Whether the law be wright or wrong, the prison walls are stout and strong and every hour seems a week long". These may not be Oscar Widle's exact words but they are very similar to what he wrote.
