Irish American actress Olivia Wilde is the sexiest woman of the year according to Maxim magazine.

Wilde beat out "Transformers" star Megan Fox and Sports Illustrated’s newest swimsuit cover girl, and Leonardo DiCaprio’s girlfriend, Bar Refaeli for the coveted spot in the Maxim Hot 100

Maxim raved about Wilde saying she was the sexiest woman on television - and Irish to boot!

“Olivia Wilde has been the sexiest woman on television since she heated up ‘The OC’ five years ago. She’s smart, she’s beautiful, and she has dual citizenship in the U.S. and Ireland — what more can a man ask for?” said Maxim Editor-in-Chief Joe Levy.

Levy said he had been in love with "House" star Wilde since her role as bad girl Alex on “The OC”

Wilde, who was born in New York in 1984, is the daughter of Irish journalist Andrew Cockburn and her paternal grandfather was the Irish-born novelist/journalist Claud Cockburn.

The House star began her acting career in Dublin where she attended The Gaiety School of Acting before starting work as a casting assistant.

Just for the record - the top 10 are:

   1. Olivia Wilde
   2. Megan Fox
   3. Bar Refaeli
   4. Malin Akerman
   5. Mila Kunis
   6. Eliza Dushku
   7. Adriana Lima
   8. Rihanna
   9. Jordana Brewster
  10. Jennifer Love Hewitt
