A single mother of three from Tullamore, Co. Offaly, has won $21 million in the New York State Lottery.

Patricia Daily Eisel, 40, who lives in Long Beach, Long Island, claimed her winnings yesterday and said that all she wants to do with her new found fortune is provide for her three young boys, aged 9, 7 and 4.

Snowed in over the holidays in New York, Eisel was forced to cancel a trip home to Ireland. Picking up an extra shift at the Saloon Bar where she works as a waitress, part-time she purchased her winning ticket after a customer left her a $1 tip in a move she has described as “karma.”

Speaking to IrishCentral.com, Eisel’s attorney Dorothy Going said that her client’s main priority with her winnings is to provide for her children.

“After she realized she had won, we sat down and she told me she just wanted to make sure her boys were cared for,” Going said.

“Trish is all about her children, she is running from morning to night with them.  She wants to buy a house with a yard, not a beachfront mansion.

“This is such a lovely story because she is one of the loveliest people you could meet. She is a single mom with little ones, working part time jobs, waitressing, bartending and babysitting just to provide.

“She is separated from her husband and doing a lot of it on her own,” Going said.

“She took the single dollar and added it to a $7 win she had with another ticket to purchase the winning ticket,” Going told IrishCentral.

When the Offaly woman heard the jackpot had been hit in Long Beach, she had a feeling it was her lucky numbers that did the trick.

“She told me after we realized she won, ‘I just knew it was me,’” Going said.
Eisel is well known around the community as a friendly face in the Saloon Bar where she has worked for several years.

“Everyone who has heard the news is just so happy for her,” added Going.

After collecting her winnings yesterday of $7,907,313 – a lump sum she received after taxes -- the Irishwoman headed straight to the airport for a flight home to Ireland.

“She was supposed to travel to Ireland during the holidays but she got snowed in so she is really excited to see her mother and tell her the good news,” Going said.

Originally from Tullamore in Co. Offaly, Eisel moved to the U.S. in 1995 where she met her husband in New York.  She then settled in Long Beach six years later where she currently resides with her three young boys.

EUROPEAN 'Lotto' and 'Euromillions' wins are Tax-Free -- and you can do in Online.
BRIAN COWEN will be looking for a 'touch' to help fund his re-election to Offaly campaign!
For some reason I can't get the video. Also, when I follow some links provided by this paper, I am warned not to go there. Anyhow, I suspect she will hear from her ex pretty soon; in fact, I'd like to date her!
Hope her ex doesn't claim a part of the winnings
Why is it said that she wins 21 million when she actually got less than 8? Isn't it a matter of course that the tax is deducted before the check is cut? Yet the entire pre tax sum is always anounced as the person's winnings. Anyhoo good for her, hope she spends it well and wisely.
