The Occupy Dame Street movement has vowed to continue with their protests and to relocate to outside the American Embassy in Dublin.

On Tuesday the organizers said the move was a sign of their solidarity with Occupy Wall Street protesters in New York who were removed temporarily early Tuesday morning by NYPD riot police, to facilitate the cleaning of Zuccotti Park. They were told they would be allowed to return once the area was cleared of their belongings.

Meanwhile in Dublin the group who have been camped out at the Central Bank for over a month, marched from Parnell Square to Dame Street.

Spokesman for the group, Dean Scurry, is calling on the people of Ireland to wake up and stand with them, the Irish Examiner reports.

Scurry said: "It's not about a response from the government, it is about a response from the people.

"We want them to wake up and stop being sheep and stop taking the ridiculous decisions and falling in line, closing their eyes and closing their ears and closing their hearts to what is going on."

The Dublin-based protesters say they have no plans to end their demonstration.

I never suggested that these people should 'go get a job', I realize how difficult it is out there at present. They should however presumably, under the terms of any benefits they are receiving, be actively looking for a job. Can't do that from a tent outside the Central Bank or US Embassy. No power for cell phones, internet access to job sites etc. The US Embassy ? So the US is the cause of all the ills in the world? Many Irish people are a very ungrateful bunch considering what the United States has done for so many of them.
The Occupiers will be the biggest non story of the decade. They are getting way too much press for a group that offers no real solutions to the current state of affairs.
Keep it up you "Occupy What-evers". I hope Intel, HP and the other 100 American firms currently supporting the Irish economy from total collapse pull out and let the country fall into a well deserved pit of midieval, pus filled economic black plague.
Fair play to them, they are correct in making a stand against a corrupt to the core system,im gonna go in an join them,im sick to the back teeth of our spinless corrupted politicans pandering to their banker handlers, tell you one thing the politicans wont stand up for the people, the system is broken an needs to be challenged big time
also not to just focus in on that, everyone else should buy a newspaper, anyone one will do which includes news from the last few years and then you may begin to notice if you can pull your head out of your ass for 1 moment what it is people are protesting against. WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
gobdawpaddy- if they are on job seekers allowance it's because of the system they are now protesting against and a moron like you will probably suggest that they should go get a job, oh yeah cause there is a half million jobs out there in ireland that people haven't taken notice of. people want to work, but not in a corrupt system that feeds money to corrupt money grabbing idiots which i can only presume you are with such childish comments as that.
a perfect spot to focus in on - tourist crippler stuff to be sure.
Are these people receiving job seekers allowances or any other income from social programs? If so, they should be cut off for breaching the terms.
I'm part of the so-called "99%" but there is no way these people represent me! The spoon-fed generation.
It doesn't look like the Dublin protesters have any better idea what they're doing than the NYC protesters .
